Alex Seyfarth #232

Our pack has Been great it’s our attack 10 mtrs out that screwed us all year, nobody in our halves ( Brooks ; Wakeman ) could get us over the line , check yesteray , Appi and Laurie in the half’s and we went well , fist game together for them as well , wait till next year , adding Sezer and Sullivan to the pack and Appi back to Hooper we improve , just need to add a good centre now

I like your optimism but I think the idea that it's all the halves that are the issue is wrong but hey that is just me.

Seyfarth will go alright when the team is going well. He is never going to be a game changer but just like those who loved to bag Eisenhuth there will be coaches who see value in him because the bloke never gives up.

I’d just like to see a line break or two. We’ll see how he stacks up when next season rolls around.
PS. I’m more than happy for he and Bateman to prove me wrong, but I’ve just hit a feeling our pack makeup next year may be a little different.
Only time will tell.
Are you serious??? What a ridiculous statement!
He is a prop forward. He does the dirty tough work such as control the middle of field, gets us on the front foot, tightens our defense lines etc.
Line breaks do not make a Prop Forward.
I think he has been a great purchase for the club regardless of results. Props do not lose games, but poor game plans and poor playmakers do.
Klemmer is all in 100%. Enough said.

Klemmer and Bateman probably end up off the bench down the track , but both do what we need of them Bateman yesterday was very good , loads of tackles , runs and a great run and pass that we scored off
Bateman has been good the past couple of weeks playing more direct.
He needs to tighten up is spacing in defense as he has missed 2 defense reads which have led to tries in the past 2 weeks but overall he has done okay.
He is your unconventional backrower but plays with 100% all heart and he will help change the culture we have at this club. Glad he is at our club.

Lol so Seyfarth finally manages to string a couple of games together where he isn’t complete garbage, in a contract year coincidentally, and we have a bunch of fools on here wanted to re-sign him. Stupidity and short term memory is truly ingrained in the Wests Tigers fanbase. He has been mediocre for 95% of the time he has been here.

We even have the usual suspects going as far as saying we would be fine letting go of Klemmer and Stef but I wouldn’t expect anything less than room temperature IQ takes from posters like earl.
Yet again, I’m this place - differing opinions = fool.
I’d rather read a respectful post that differs from my point of view than a smart arse having a crack at another post like yours.
And just so you understand the message and to speak your language, Piss off fool!

Don’t think it’s a ridiculous statement, just how I read the game. I fully understand what you’re saying about him but I still feel he’s pretty predictable with ball in hand. Not asking you to agree just listen to my thoughts without the necessity to fire up.
We all see the game in different ways and I for one would like to see him burst through the line occasionally. Enough said !

Seyfarth is still in the "Junior" category.
2022 he sucked, but was still picked.
2023 he sucked less, and was still picked if a little less.

For some reason, Nathan Cayless had huge wraps on this guy.

Honestly I would rather us have kept Joe O and punted Seyfarth. That wouldn't happen.
Instead why drop now that he has shown form. Give him a 2 year contract and lets see if that form continues. No 4 year deals unless they are in our favour (i.e. 3 years with club option for 4).

Pretty sure Farah is a huge fan of Seyfarth from memory.

If they want to keep him, I'm sure they will.

My concern is at who's expense? Someone, or some people, are going to miss out. Only so many chairs in the Top 30.

they probably let matamua go with players coming through ? or James

I would like to use another player as an example of players improving: Phoenix Crossland. He was a guy who got clowned on by Newcastle fans for a couple of years for not being a good player. Come 2023 and now he is killing it. What changed? One, he got an extended opportunity in the starting side. Two, he is more experienced, with over 50+ games to his name now.

Seyfarth himself is about to reach the 50 game milestone. He is now handling the physicality of first grade a lot better than last year. He is way more involved than before. Sheens himself said that you don't know a players potential until they've played 50 games. Letting him go now would be a mistake. Some club would pick him up right as he's found his feet in FG.

He’s now played 45 first grade games and plenty of NSW Cup. 6’ 4 and over 100kg.

I’m guilty of slamming Seyfarth, but he’s proved me wrong the last few weeks.

On reflection, I think a bloke with his build needed time against men and a few off-seasons to mature into his body. He takes a roster spot, but comes cheap and is starting to show signs of coming good. I think it would be silly to get rid of him now after we’ve done all the development work with him.

He’s all effort and you need guys like that amongst the team.

Was literally writing an almost identical post at the same time as you. Agree with this 100%.

Seyfarth's limited physically but watching him play you can tell he's an intelligent player, can ball play pretty well and is great in the effort areas.

He's certainly worth keeping around. We shouldn't rely on him becoming a star since I just don't think he'll ever have the ability to truly impact a game in terms of making damaging runs, line-breaks, big hits etc. But as a versatile forward who can step in and do a competent job without letting the team down ... yeah. There is a world where he ends up a first grade level ball-playing 13 too, which is also valuable.

Cathy Galloway probably wasn't as good during the early part of his career at the Sharks.

Not saying Seyfarth will be as good but......

Matamua may well be in their sights- he has not really progressed in development and his games continue to show errors and mixed performance. At this stage I'd have to say Id prefer to extend Seyfarth and tap Matamua on the shoulder. 2 games left to decide.

I tend to believe he will be another Seyfarth in terms of his development. Unfortunately with the extra team we are likely to be cherry picked due to the talent we have. I think Matamua will be a fine player.
