All Eyes on the Players.

TIGERS

Well-known member
Yep a lot has gone down over the last few weeks.

I'm interested in what comes next from the Seinor Players at the Club. It would be nice to see them close ranks and pull together as unit, regardless of what has happened or who has gone where. Recent reactions to certain things have me second guessing a lot of stuff.

You look at a club like Manly. I loath them and it is always a great day for rugby league when they lose… But you look at the dramas they had with Brett Stewart, and that huge Brawl at Brookvale, and that season launch... when things are bad, right or wrong they come together as a unit. Matt Orford goes overseas... no worries... trent hodkinson leaves... no worries...ect. Same with the Storm after the salary cap drama. Their senior players got together and worked it all out between them. Can we really, really say the same about the tigers. We get upset if Matty Johns isn't very nice in an interview. Or if someone moves a few clicks down the road to the shire.

No-one should be bigger than the club. It should be an honor to pull on our Jersey. Is that passion really there??? I'm really interested in seeing the conduct and actions that come from some of the big names at our club over the summer.

Or am i Crazy? hahaha

Couldn't have said it better myself. The professionalism of the leading teams in the comp make it look like amatuer at the Tigers. We come across like a pack of emotional schoolgirls when things aren't going our way. Its about time things change. Hopefully whoever the coach is harden's em up

Maybe the other teams have true professionals behind the scenes who know what they are doing.
Maybe if the players were treated better they wouldn't have to resort to going public.
Maybe at other clubs if someone gives you their word they stick to it and not try and screw you over.

Who are the senior players ? Farah Marshall Lawrence Galloway…who's left ?

Well there's those guys but mainly anyone who's played over 75 games for any club. Lote, Utai, Blair, Anasta too… Guys who should already know that they are professionals and its their job to do whats best for the team while under contract.

I mean its a pretty simple concept. Heres 200,000 dollars for the year. Train hard, stay fit, show up on time, do what the coach wants on the Pitch and do it as best you can. That's all you can do really.

Well said. The difference between the clubs you mentioned and us is the fact that our players were stronger than the coach. Bellamy and Hasler would of no way put up with the players running the show. That's your problem right there

This requires co-operative leadership from Robbie and Benji. Do Robbie and Benji have the kind of relationship that they can pull this off? They really need to put egos and agendas aside. My fear from all of the info about the players calling the shots is that they play internal politics and will not be able to.

Fulton , Anasta ,Blair, Bell as well

Maybe thats a good thing

True professionals who will lead by example and won't turn every session into a charade

Apart from the guys who have left and Mr. Marshall, there hasn't been too much crap from the other players. It really is only Benji who needs to pull his head in. As one of the senior players, he needs to be one of the guys keeping it all together. I'm really disappointed in him actually. Robbie on the other hand has handled it all pretty well imo.

X2 guess we'll see where benji's true allegiance lies soon

This is exactly the way Humphries wants you to react - blame the players. The whole thing is a smokescreen to try to hide the fact that Bryce Gibbs and Chris Heighington were treated like horses, not human beings. The club seems to regard the players as commodities and fans as just plain irrelevant.

I admire Benji's honesty, it would be easier to shut up. To him (and to me) players like Heino, Bryce and Beau are people who have contributed greatly to the club The Wests Tigers, they aren't just e.g. "120 metres a game and 28 tackles".

I wouldn't trust anything Humphries said, it's all spin.

i dont disagree with you (that its all spin), but at the same time, the players are horses, they are commodities.
the game of league shifted to a business model a long time ago. the players tend to pull out this 'we have feelings' bs when it suits them. the more that comes out about beau, we have learnt that he wasnt treated badly at all - he was just upset about his mate heighno, who we all know has been on the outter for a few years (almost went to dragons and penrith previous years).

from reading alot of posts on here, alot of folk seem to be completely left or right wing in this 'argument', when there are valid points from both sides.

What rubbish the storm turn over 5 or 6 1st grade players a year they do ok. I don't care if the guys I pay to go see hate each other as long as they win games.
