Screw him - i know he will be toxic at the club but I rather give a firm message, keep him in reserves all year. I feel its more a battle for future - if we bow down, why wont managers keep saying its a easy way to get out in future? Gotta make a stand here, even if it damages 2021 - lets face it its not that grand looking anyway hah! I'll support the club entirely if they keep him in reserves.

Bugger reserve grade, let him mow the lawns

I dont see any advantage of having him around the club and the rest of the boys.

He can only be a distraction and given his actions he would most likely turn a few of his close mates against the club.

Does nothing for team culture.

The best way to punish him would be to tell him to sit out the season.

We cop the cap hit but he doesnt get to hang out with his mates, cant play footy and becomes irrelevant.

Tigers chairman delivers brutal truth

James McKern
Wests Tigers have cancelled a scheduled meeting with prop Josh Aloiai after he demanded an immediate release from his contract, then posted a meme on Instagram on Tuesday.

The bombshell call caught the Tigers off guard with Aloiai having one year remaining on his current contract with the club.

Aloiai, on a reported $350,000 salary, wants out in the hopes of joining Manly on a richer deal, but despite his brutal demands, Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis has refused to budge and bit back at the star.

After Aloiai said he would “never wear the jersey again”, Hagipantelis was adamant the club will refuse to grant him a release from the final year of his contract.

For once we have a club chairman that may actually have balls to ride this to the end.
I totally agree with the Clubs approach on this .... unless we receive some advantage out of this release HE IS STAYING!

He is staying to mow the lawns.

Is it not on the NRL to investigate to see if there is any incentive from Manly to the player for him to seek an early release? If Manly are offering to pay Josh A more if he gets an early release then surely there are grounds to do a full investigation and put a stop once and for all to this process. Its so unprofessional. Amateur hour in the NRL sometimes

So not releasing him unless we find or get a suitable/equivalent player .. props hmmm ?? Players off-contract 2021: Thoams Fledger, Jordan Riki, Matt Lodge, Tavita Pangi Junior, Emre Guler, Dunamis Lui, Iosia Soliola, Dylan Napa, Aaron Woods, Toby Ruldolf, Bill Magoulis, Danile Alvaro, Nathan Brown, Spncer Leniu, Isaah Yeo, Jaydn Sua, Tevita Tatola, Mark Nicholls, Jack DeBelin, Kornin Sims, Trent Merrin, Angus Crichton, Sitili Tupouniua .. any others ??

I’m not sure who this guy thinks he is. He isn’t exactly Shane Webcke or Glenn Lazarus, he’s not even Aaron Woods. I think he’s had some bad advice and a few moments of madness.
IMO when he sobers up he can turn up to training with his tail between his legs and face his teammates.
And if he plays half-heartedly for half the season how is that any different to his standard form - we wouldn’t even notice.

Silly Manly think that he's worth $700k, LOL.

Well they did have Fonua on close to a $mill so they probably think Aloiai is a bargain

Idk if anyone’s suggested this, haven’t read this thread yet but if they’re signing Foran and Manly want him for 2021 we tell them Josh Schuter comes to other way or they can wait

Melbourne taught the club a lesson in being a well run strong systematic club, JAC might’ve been here but we didn’t come to the party with trade options so they sent us away... shame it had to come to that, but it may be a blessing in disguise bc it seems to have switched the club on

If only we did that with Matterson and Moses with that slimey club... wow I hate parra

Yes, lots of people have suggested Josh Schuster. I don't think Manly are dumb enough to give him up just to get Aloiai a year early. Manly might be regretting the whole offer given how much of a spanner Aloiai has shown himself to be...

My thoughts are that Manly’s contract with Aloiai must have some strict stipulations if they are offering him around $700k for 2022-23 conditional on him going there next year.

If he doesn’t go next year I wonder if in 2022-23 his contract price drops significantly?

It could explain his histrionics.

Lets also put the manager in the spotlight too- more than a coincidence he manages Funoa-Blake and secures his early release to Manly and then gets Aloiai a 2022-23 deal at Manly apparently contingent on him getting early 21 release from WT. Then Aloiai kicks up stink demanding early release- who has put him up to it? Yes let the NRL investigate- if player manager deregister, if Manly penalise big way.

No problems with requesting release and clubs negotiating, BIG problem with demanding and ultimatum.

Can see Billy Walters asking to be released soon to join his father at Brisbane too.

Speculation at its best do you think Billy is what the Broncos are looking for to rebuild and for that matter Kevvie to hold his job.

Kevvie wouldn't do that ...just fraught with problems

Kevvie needs to bring the Broncos together ..no add more friction
