I had to sign up because personally this effected me more than anything.

but after a scroll through Instagram and facebook and looking at how other Wests Tigers players are responding speaks words of whats happening in the club at the moment.

It seems like all of them are in school still, acting like brothers and protecting eachother over the fake news and the supporters, like myself that are so so so annoyed and angry about the club over the last few years venting their frustrations.. WITH Them replying to people..

Personally, I believe that a few people will leave the Tigers after their contract, this mainly being Thomas Mikaele (whom I feel will leave with a early release and go to Broncos) and Nofa, whom will be sick of the club and other people leaving.. who else really? My reasoning for this is that the two people listed are high influenced on commenting on angry fans on social media...

End of the day, I believe tigers wont be anywhere in 2021, but 2022 we will have the warchest like Bulldogs have at the moment, just hope this time we spend wisely... once the Tigers get into 8 and into the top 4.. watch the supporter base grow to the BIGGEST NRL team with fan numbers.. just need a good run.. and people who reply to me and say it wont ever happen... why do you think there is a Wests Tigers post on social media or from news outlets everyday? BECAUSE we have the biggest following.. OR that we just love bait articles more than anyone else lol..

eitherway.. I think close down the forums for 1 month to have a break and update and start the forum fresh with 0 posts on everything and go from there.

Further to this, doing my daily scroll through social media it seems just that person Thomas Mikaele is the one that is posting and standing up for Aloia with his missus.. I bet you, and quote this, that he will be the first to go once his contract is up!

end of the day the wanna be captain Alioa is gone and its fine, just hope the tigers have the balls and keeps him till he leaves at the end of 2021..

if he wants to win the comp, he needs to accept a lower wage and attract talent THEN the club will recognise his work and pay him out...

I am starting to find the forums fascination with the appearance and attractiveness of other men confronting.

Just caught up on this thread after finishing work.
I think today might be just about the first time Lee has been quoted firing shots in the media regarding contract negotiations and actually having his gun pointed in the right direction.
I know we have had watershed moments before (and failed) but now is the time for the club to show some balls and hold firm as Lee has suggested they will.
It’s time for the NRL player and agent fraternity to know that we won’t be subservient any longer.
Lee also needs to be calling for a formal investigation into the manager and Manly for their role in what appears to have transpired.
We hold the cards here, his apparent offer from Manly is contingent on a release and if he is determined to never wear the jersey again then we need to play hard ball.
A player swap in our favour or we manoeuvre to ensure he sits out a year. The NRL is a “what have you done for me lately” environment and a year in the shade will significantly diminish his value.
Man up WT and start driving the narrative instead of reacting to it.

Lee on SEN now saying he will be pushing the NRL to ensure that players requesting releases on compassionate grounds cannot profit from the release and that their remuneration should remain the same for the remaining period on the defaulted contract.

I agree with him. Should generate support from all clubs.

If this constant defaulting on contracts stops it should arrest the rapid rate of increasing player salaries.

This would stop players leaving for any financial incentive (as far as anyone can see legally at least), but if a player simply wants out to play for another club then this instead will benefit the club they're heading to (and open up more options for the player, since every club only needs to pay this set amount). So it's a step in the right direction, but only half the puzzle.

Yea it doesn't really take away the incentive to move. Clubs would just reaarange their cap by front loading someone else for the following year and upping the moved players contract the following year . i.e..1.8mill over 3 years equates to 600k each year but if they can only pay him 400k year 1 they frontload someone else 200k for that year and pay the remainder of the contract over the following 2 years.

The bbetter option as someone pointed out on here earlier is that they pay the 600k as per contract but also have to carry the amount of the contract remaining at the other club on their salary cap . So as per the example they would pay the player 600k but have to carry amil on the cap. Salary cap penalties are a much bigger disencentive for clubs to poach.

Just simply honour the contracts , and have a trade season and deadline . There’s no getting out of contracts , but you can force a trade during trade season . The AFL does it , and every other major sports organisation not named FIFA.

Guess who controls the "RLPA", the ones who shoot down the idea of a Draft, Trade Window or Free Agent period... Politis and his cronies.

A proper free agent period would take away the advantage of clubs like the Rorters negotiating with players whenever they wish. They don't want the transparency of all clubs having the same opportunity to sign an off contract player.

Makes sense, nice sentiment, would change nothing. Contracts would simply be backended.

That back ended contract would stop them doing it the next time, they wouldn’t leave the club in the last year if it was the final payment of a back ended contract and the new club wouldn’t offer higher than the back ended contract either.

Can we agree that anything that comes here from parra is toxic and to stay away from them when recruiting?

I for one love Aloiai and I am extremely disappointed especially with mclntyre leaving too...only way I’d be releasing him is if we get schuster...which I honestly think might be better in terms of roster management as we already have a lot of props

8.musgrove
9.liddle
10.Tamou
11.garner
12.blore
13.lucy

14.stefano
15.twal
16.mikaele
17.schuster

Schuster would play lock for me with a 5 prop rotation allowing our big boys too not be forced to play 50 mins allowing aggression and punch at all times...however if we face some injuries suddenly we are bringing in the likes of packer,MCK or seyfarth which is concerning....really disappointing that we lost mclntyre as he was the perfect depth option

Lee also said he doesn't think a player should be able to seek a release from club A to sign with club B on compassionate grounds and make a profit, he shoukd be held to the monetary value of the contract from club A to club B for the year he is breaking the contract.
He also said he would be speaking with Abdo and Nrl
fun times ahead

How much did we offer Addo-Carr? wasn't he going to receive a financial benefit from a compassionate release or were Lee and JAC going to donate the difference to charity.

For those that used to mock Go, jeez the club appears to have gone downhill since the ambulance chaser took over. Seems more a spin merchant than any sort of astute business manager.

A good mate of Matterson, looks like his character, or rather lack of character, has rubbed off on Josh - very disappointing tbh, I thought he was better than that.

We need a backrower IMO. I think we are OK even with josh leaving in the middles. We can bump up one of the the development guys , or sign Ofahengaue , who by the way is actually better than josh IMO. Or ..... how about TPJ . He’s 💯 available .

I've heard that Aloiai wasn't happy with how the club treated Matt Eisenhuth (his best mate) this year.

Don't know what we offered him, but I am pretty sure we had permission to speak with him from the Storm.

I'm curious to know what treatment he's unhappy about. Eisenhuth did have a career year this year, but in all honesty, he's not a great or solid player. Ran very softly for a guy his stature & was slow. But I give him credit, he balled out this year when he got in the team. Probably cause he was off contract. But the club didn't treat Matt unfairly.

Players have good relationships with other players in the team, but they still have to understand, the clubs are still businesses. Things aren't personal when it comes to the club's success.

WESTS TIGERS PRESS STATEMENT

The club has had a good chin wag today and we will release Josh Aloiai if another club will give us ‘like for like’ players for the following:

James Tedesco
Josh Addo-Carr
Ryan Paperhuyzen
Nathan Brown
Curtis Sironen
Ryan Matterson

We will no longer be used as a stepping stone

Tamou can't arrive quickly enough to get the playing group committed to WTs.

The bloke has stuck with us through injuries, drama, multiple coaches and has put up with a lot.

We don't know for sure that he even said that or exactly what has happened. We can only speculate.

What we do know is that we have a bonehead Chair that seems to be quoting the 1985 edition of Negotiating for Dummies.

The irony is you draw conclusions about our Board/ CEO and chair and yet you have no evidence either. A tad hypocritical methinks.

The Chair's the only one playing this out in public.

The words "I'll never play for the Tigers again." must have come out of my nether ring then.
