I was in Sydney all day and didn't have access to the forum but I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the breathtaking hypocrisy of Benny Elias yesterday in attacking Aloiai for his petulance and demanding he honour his contract. I heard him on radio and couldn't believe the gall of the man given his passionate defence of his nephew when he was tanking on WT a couple of years ago. He real is a special human being.

He did the exact same thing when Matterson did it. He’s got a very selective memory.

Well, some people have selective memories.
Moses had his contract pulled before he asked to go to Parra. He was also told he most probably wouldn’t be in first grade... but was then chosen there.

Pulled after it sat untouched on the table for how many months while they tried to get every last dollar?

So what?
The point was he didn't have (and wasn't going to get) a contract for the next year and was told he may not be playing first grade.
Bit different to Aloiai and Matterson who had a year to run.

He had his offer pulled, not his contract. Surely you aren’t going to defend him. He might have been told he wouldn’t be playing top grade, I don’t now, but it doesn’t excuse tanking on his team and his teammates. I’m surprised at your comment.

This took a very ugly & unexpected turn very quickly. Haven’t spoken to a single person yet who isn’t completely shocked at Aloiai & his managements actions.
The 1 day deadline also taken extremely out of proportion, once revised deal was presented it was mentioned they would like to know by the next day.
Was never said “you have 1 day or its gone”.
Manly really agitating the release behind closed doors.

Who are Manly proposing as a player trade?

Until Manly or his manager are required to provide a player of quality to WTs' satisfaction this will continue. The player manager should be forced by the NRL to donate his commission on all transactions associated with this behaviour to a charity.

we can have Schuster for Josh A massive upgrade for us

It doesn't work that way.

It could if they want JA badly enough and there were reports a few weeks back that Schuster wanted out when Foran signed

I still don't believe that it's purely a $$ thing. Clearly Aloiai is unhappy with the club about something. Yeh it could be the money, but somewhere we are letting our players down. It could be the lack of success, frustration at changes, frustration at not getting TPAs, lack of assistance outside of footy anything. I do deal with Pacific Islanders at my job and one thing I've realised is that they value a lot of other things over money. It's definitely a generic statement but we really need to have a very deep look inside our structures.

well we would like a player in compensation if we release Josh A, can we not specify who we would like? as storm did to us nominating nofo or talau ?

If Manly are wiling to pay him over $600k, and our original offer was $350k, that's a pretty big difference. Us even going up to $450k, is still well short.

I think that alone could have angered him into feeling not appreciated.

We're on the money though with 350/450 at best. 600 is just silly of Manly, but I guess that's the overs you've got to pay to entice someone away from their club.

Yea , because he wants to be captain and no one likes him . And when the players picked best and fairest it was basically a popularity contest , as most of these things are because on the field , you’re just worried about your job , rather than who the best player is . He was dirty he got 1 vote because he deserves more ! And the playing group was off him . I bet in large part because he was best mates with Matto . It’s how these things go unfortunately

Manly are prepared to pay overs to replace AFB. Agent sees opportunity for two and possibly three commissions plus increase $ for his client. Misread situation at WTs and client enraged club.

Yes, but said player has to want to come. They aren’t pawns.

Interesting. My brother in law believed he was the anointed captain of team family but he was a missionary for the AOG.

Looking at his Instagram, I think he was good mates with Huth also.

True remember Schuster was threatening to leave manly when they signed Foran and he said if he was going to play 6 then Schuster would look at leaving Manly.
We came close to getting him last year I believe, worth asking at least

I don't entirely disagree that something may be amiss on the good ship Tigers; however, if you are unhappy you don't have a chuck and dummy spit like a 2 year-old in the supermarket when Mummy won't buy you an ice-cream. You talk about it to try and resolve it and if you can't you move on.
Even if you have made a decision to move on, you inform them in a courteous manner not by throwing them under the bus. We seem to have had a few that think that's the way to go. I'm so happy the club has fired back in a sensible manner and hope they stick to their guns.

110% agree that Aloiai has handled it unprofessionally compared to us. The only blight would be Lee has come out all guns blazing whereas he should've gone behind the back and met with PVL. It should've all been done behind closed doors.

I'm talking more about the pattern. People seem to think that people are walking over us because they think we're weak. That might be part of it, but the main reason is players are unhappy here. They either come here for the money or to get a foot in the door for an easy spot at first grade. Yesterday it was MM/Teddy/Woods/Matterson, today it's JA and tomorrow it might be AD. Taking a stance like this is a great way to fight this situation but it's not a long term solution to player's unhappiness or displeasure with the WT.

I guess I differ from you on what Lee did and said, I have no problem, he was just saying what nearly everyone else was thinking. He has drawn the line in the sand (Melbourne showed us how) I hope he stays the course.

On your other point, they are chasing money and fame, something we couldn't give them, but we will and they will be but a memory.
