Am I a bad supporter?

Not a bad supporter just disillusioned like the rest of us Wests Tigers supporters. The signings and the hype of the off season followed by a more spirited outing against Souths last week had us believing that the Tigers may have finally turned the corner but after yesterday's performance we were plunged further into the abyss!!

I can never support another club having been a Balmain Tigers supporter since the mid 1960's and like everyone enjoyed the highs and lows (mostly the lows) associated with being a loyal supporter. We have to have faith that the Wests Tigers will one day be a force again, I just hope we all live to see it.

I’m a tragic as well, born in Annandale, Leichhardt oval games from 6 months of age, I sill remember the excitement I used to feel when hearing Larry Corowa has been thrown the footy , I’m still looking for that rush I used to get when he’d fly down the sideline, that excitement, that rush! I’m 47 now and live on the Gold Coast, I’d love to just support the local team, I could be a member, go to all the Home Games and wear the Titans Jersey, follow the feeder clubs , the whole deal, but my damn heart cannot stop being a damn tiger, Ive got one black and one gold eye, and the losses hurt and the wins send me into some deluded bliss where I start looking at coming fixtures with a newfound confidence that is never truly justified... I just start making plans for glory in my own head for the Tigers that my heart wants but deep down my brain knows are always wishful thinking and outright pie in the sky optimism. I cannot even kid myself, I don’t really choose to follow the tigers , I just do, you can pick your friends but not your family or being branded a Balmain Tiger,

I have for most of my life supported underdogs, losers and no hopers.
What I enjoyed the most are the few times that they made good .... that’s my pieces of gold that I carry.

Following the same team through good and bad builds character. Many years ago a player had to be living in the same area before he could play for that team.

I think that the absence of this requirement has led to a mercenary player situation which has resulted in today's situation where some players play for two or sometimes three different team in the one year.

Ok. Then I’ll temper that statement by saying that the feelings don’t seem to be reciprocated and so it is starting to feel like a loveless marriage. Better? ?

I think they want to, but they just get it horribly wrong.
Change jerseys every year or two, change the orange for Pete’s sake. You have the ground announcers annoyingly in denial trying to motivate the fans like they need to get ready to play the game. ‘I heard that three times’ yesterday afternoon at the match and every time my response was ‘are the players ready?’
Can I ask why Wests (Magpies) have always remained true to traditional aspects. Logo, jerseys even home ground but yet the tigers chop and change like they are featuring on Japanese Quiz show.

I have been a tiger supporter all my life even in the bad days of the 70s - but we had Larry Corowa then. I feel the pain, hurt. I believe the junior base is there. There are diamonds and rust. Currently we are finding rust but i see the light. it may not happen today , this year but it will happen. I will see the Tigers rise again - Care refer to Richmond Tigers - they wanted Coach, CEO board etc to be sacked within 18 months they were winning premierships - NEVER GIVE UP. Yes it will hurt for a bit longer
