An opportunity in 2012 !

Can someone tell Heighno that he doesn't have to run at the markers all the time, he makes respectable metres most weeks but if he angled his runs a little differently not only would he make more metres he might make a break or two.

On quite a few sets we play 4 tackle football because we get caught by the markers, consequently making no extra metres and putting us under pressure.

I get that the way football is currently played the majority of forward play is one out, however the arrival of Blair next year will give us the opportunity to start playing some second phase forward footy.

One of Blairs strengths is that he is great getting his arms free and releasing the ball. This is going to give some of our players such as BMM, maybe Ellis, or a supporting back the opportunity to back up (ala Stewarts try last week) and either break through or create extra phase play.

Foward play has diminished dramatically in terms of skill over the years, its basically bash and barge these days and I long for some forwards to play with skill ala Beetson etc.

We have some great penetrative backs, lets develop our forwards to play with skill, create opportunities and make us an even better and more feared team !

It's a Sheens tactic. He instructs players to target the markers so that it tires them out. Not something I agree with though.

Jazza is right. Its also to get a quick play the ball. Its touch football tactics. Not sure I agree with it either.
