Anasta signs with Wests Tigers for 2 years

This is totally against 2 or 3 policies the Admin have trotted out over the years, Is he the 'Marquee' player for 2012?, surely not.
What about promoting youth or has that experiment failed along with promoting home grown talent, we are fast becoming the Last Chance Saloon for players in their twilight years, Scott Sattler, Nick Graham now Braith!.

Masterstroke ….... great signing.

We could only have dreamed about signing high profile players in the old days.

Congratulations to all concerned.

Always rated and followed Anasta…from his childhood prodigy days at the Dogs, to his Fittler'esque sidestep, strong defense and great kicking game, to him getting the Roosters into the Grand Final.
Very classy player and astute signing.
Remember Gus Gould said on nine commentary..."good things always seem to happen to Anasta....the ball always follows him"
Hope he brings some of these good things and freakish luck to the Tigers next year!

Can people stop carrying on about youth.

Our squad had the likes of (year only not birthdate)
Ayshford 24
Grant 24
Groat 20
Humble 24
Lawrence 24
Moltzen 24
BMM 21
Politini 21
Simona 21
Spence 21
Tedesco 19
Woods 21

Some of u carry on way too much and if u had ur way we may as well replace the NYC team with the first grade team…

How many 19 year olds who have never played first grade do you want to debut in one season..come on

They should be working there way into the team and we are far from an aging side.

Scott Sattler signed in 2004 😱pen_mouth: ….Anasta signed for 2013\. Hardly "fast becoming the last chance saloon".

Great signing, Anasta is a good leader and a solid player, I used to hate him in his earlier years for the Dogs but he's really matured in the last few years, very happy to have him on board.

good point and post!
and for those that are saying hes too old and will be injured please, when was the last time he got injured hes tuff as nails and plays wth the utmoast enthusiasm, sometimes too much which makes himout to be as a sore loser and a**h*** on the field(me included). But! He's still a good player with all traits that we could use in the future, either using him in the halfs as a ball player , kicker, goal kicker, running back, or switch him into the back row with the option to rove. Im happy with the decision aslong and would be surprised if it doesnt work out.

Isn't he the same age as Ellis… But too old some say? I think experienced and a leader.... Let's not forget what this bloke did to us in that 100 minute game with the field goal... That takes a player to do that

I have always admired Anasta as a footballer. Tough, skillful, very honest. Seems like a decent bloke.

I just worry he is running on old legs. He came into First Grade very young. His first month has been ordinary.

It does provide some of the things we are lacking. However I don't know how much juice he has left in the tank.

THis could prove to be a masterstroke or an expensive disaster. Hard to know which way it will pan out but im worried

I dont understand the hate, he fixes what most complain about on the boards.

1\. We have a poor kicking game - he has a monster long kick and bomb

2\. We need someone who will make calls and not defer to benji or Robbie on the field - he is a professional who as played on every stage, he won't just let them run the show and will make the call if he sees something on

3\. We always have players injured - beauty is rarely ever on the side lines

4\. We are too inconsistent and soft - the guy plays with passion every week and hates to lose, just like farah. Mightn't put huge hits on, but is a solid defender who won't stop trying. Blair is the enforcer with hits, and we've seen that when they miss like the shoulder charge against st George, that tries can happen. We don't need many more enforcers, Blair will grow into that role, we need good solid defenders who hit solidly and consistently. He does this.

5\. We lack size - well he isn't a prop so won't fix that, but he is bigger than Fulton and heighno, and if at 5/8 he is massive. So not really resolved, he isn't a prop, so thats one issue left to be resolved.

6\. When benji and farah are injured we have no creativity - he is a good player who will help take pressure off if one gets injured

7\. Heighno and Blair don't hit the line at pace - he runs great lines and at good pace.

8\. We never sign known players - not many players have as high a profile.

Additionally he has a good image corporate wise, and whilst not young he still has plenty of good years to offer. Look at lockyer and fittler, both still played well till they hung up their boots. Braith isn't in their category as a great, but he isn't a nick Graham or Scott sattler player (the average journeyman who is running out of steam) he is a high profile big game player. A great signing in my opinion and look forward to seeing him on the field. 2013 I'll either look an idiot for my early call of being a good signing or I'll be happy watching the tigers win. Welcome to the club, and whilst never liked you on the field previously, I'll be cheering just as hard for you as if you'd been a tigers player for 10yrs, as long as you show pride in the jersey.

Yes real fast. Fast enough that it was a 9 yr span between Sattler and Graham and Anasta.

I hope it turns out good for the club. Not one of my favourites, though. I hope I end up on here saying I was wrong but I dont think its a good signing. 😛ray:

Absolutely nailed it.

Experience and leadership is definitely something the Tigers lack.

Braith Anasta - astute signing.

I can't believe we sighned him. We used to be the club with no wankers and sooks and now we signed him and have looked at Sony bill Williams and Willie mason. What has it come to.. Might stop watching footy…
