Anasta stats 2014 rd 1-7

I would actually like to see Austin there. Would have been my pick from round 1.

Decided not to pay to much mind to it though. Potter is comfortable in his plan and we will see where this all takes us

I just hope me doesn't prove as stubborn as Sheens down the track.

Actually i don;t anyway in coaching around the world could be as stubborn as Sheens.

If you were measuring kick metres in height he would of got A+ yesterday.

His bombs are useful, but yesterday they were poorly executed.

Anasta was responsibly for such debacles as Akuola kicking on the last play yesterday and dropping the ball inside the 10, or kicking it dead, or grubbering on the 4th.

I have only looked at the play live from bay 404, so it was a long way away in the opposite corner and I may be wrong, but I think you are drawing a long bow to add that last play kick to your list of gripes.

For a start it was played near the corner on the left (Brooks) side and I thought Austin not getting into position was the major factor. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, as that will remain my recollection at least until I get to watch a replay.

I want the team going in one direction and think that Blake can contribute to that in his current bench and a injury backup role, as preparation for the number six later in the year if all goes well. What I don't want is a version of One Direction forming our spine whilst Farah is out. We are also getting heavily targeted down our left edge defense because our (Koro less) right is solid with Braith there.

The aint broke theory is outdated for me. We should always be looking for ways to improve the team, keep players hungry.

Its like Fitzhenry he played in some winning sides but was a total liability.

Braith is in the team as a 5/8\. He has set up 1 try. Austin would double our productivity in that position and make Brooks even better imo.

I find it laughable that people think Anasta is guiding and helping Brooks through games to be honest. Its like when Brooks has a blinder, lets give Braith a massive wrap for being out there on the field with him. Please!

I agree in principle but Anasta is not a total liability and does not deserve the comparison to Fitzhenry. Too harsh. Anasta has been useful and makes key tackles, hardening up the fringes in defense. Austin would be the far better option at 5/8 and Anasta should be on the bench as a utility - he'd be even more useful in that role.

I thought his last play kicks were ordinary yesterday overall.

Dont care if our spine looks like One direction, its how they play that i care about.

Im a big fan of going for youth over experience in close selection decisions. I only go for experience if these are still real quality footballers (Farah, Fulton, Richards)

Different philosophies, different opinions.

Anasta would be even worse off the bench. We saw this last year. I felt sorry for him. He is not an impact player. We can't sit on the fence and do that again. Potter either sticks with him and backs him in. Or makes a straight swap based on the evidence in front of him. No fence sitting.

Going with Anasta is like playing with 16 men in the team. How is it possible to play a whole game and manage to never carry the ball forward, even one metre? You'd only need to catch the ball and fall forward!

It all looks Ok seeing as we won, but it was a very lucky win with two intercept tries and the opposition only kicking 1 from 4 attempts at goal. Let's see how you feel about Mr 'waste of space' if we lose a match.

This. Yesterdays win might have covered a few flaws. Hopefully these are not exposed in the next few weeks. I wanted Braith to step up his performance yesterday with Farah and Teddy out. I didn't see it. I didn't see the calm head under pressure.

Pretty confident that Potter will ease Austin into the 6 jersey around the halfway mark this season. He's developing well and providing more creativity than Anasta who looks to be nothing more than a link man out there. Austin has no fear in taking the line on, and I think once we get the majority of our players back by round 13, our spine will be in god stead leading into the backend of the season.

I like Anasta to continue playing his game. Austin to come in fresh in the second round of the games.WE will have our best team in the finals and not played our whole hand currently. Our best will be in the finals. Meanwhile our job is to win games and not topped too early. I have complete faith in Potter.

If not halfway most likely the last quarter of the season.

I would love Austin in the team right now but ive had this feeling that Potter sees him as a special project and is chipping away at all those rough edges Austin has in his game waiting to unleash a complete and fool proof footballer.

It could actually be the best thing for him. Its probably how Penrith should have treated him.

Some more sense creeping into the thread in the latter posts, how refreshing.

Getting real tired of my heart skipping a beat when Anasta has the ball or trys to catch it.

A veteran of nearly 300 games shouldn't drop so many simple balls.

I love Potter but it doesn't mean I have 100% faith in all his decisions. In last weeks game I thought we competed brilliantly again. Thats at least a benchmark that he seems to be setting

I just hope he is demanding more from Anasta. Bloke with his experience made rookie errors and failed to challange the line even once. I saw it as unacceptable and the result (2 intercept tries) glossed over our shortcomings.

I just dont want Anasta getting back slapped all year for the great performances of our young players and giving him a free pass in the 6 jumper all year. Im sure Potter is onto him, but i dont want to see too many similar performances to yesterday from our number 6 without some pressure or consequences.

He needs to lift his own game a lot in my opinion or it will really bite us.

Just to clarify when Teddy and Farah are there i don't have as big a problem with Anasta. Its just with these strike weapons out there I see an ageing plodder trying to steer the ship and i wonder where our points are coming from. Yesterday some Austin magic, and 2 intercepts were all we could muster. We could have quite easily lost that game 26-10

Potter dropped Benji last season so I'm sure he won't struggle to get drop Anasta when the time is right

As Willow said , Potter probably has a time line for change to occur , but that time isn't here just yet

Well he sort of dropped Benji. For 20 minutes of 1 game. It was a brave stance but probably not as momentus as people make it out. He then went on to play like a busted all year. I have big faith in Potter overall so hopefully his judgment will prove the correct one, i just have doubts about this particular one.
