Andrew Fifita

Lets just try this scenario out. I am Gareth Ellis - an international footballer and one of the best 2nd rowers in the game period. I come to Australia to test myself and my coach tells to me to run the ball back softly softly so I don't hurt anyone. What would I do ?

I mean seriously Sheens knows we need to out muscle the opposition.

As for Moltzen - the haters didn't see his two tries on Friday night. Speed to burn, the ability to put his body on the line and run the right lines. Add to that he made some good covering tackles and took some bombs. I recognize he needs time to learn his trade and he might not get there but it is worth a shot.

Why does Ellis now, like Heighington, run straight into the markers? Ask yourself that.

As for Moltzen - nobody hates him. And the fact he scored two tries, one of which was the easiest you will ever see (three on one situation) should not overlook his many other glaring deficiencies at fullback.

It is not "worth a shot" playing someone out of position when he is costing us points every game because he can't contest a bomb, or costing us valuable metres because he walks back from kick returns, or tries to palm it off to a winger because he doesn't want to get tackled. Simple as that.

We have a very able fullback replacement in Brown, who had a excellent end to the year last season at the back. He should be playing fullback if McKinnon is unavailable. He hits the line hard and fast, is good under the high ball and most importantly is a natural fullback who is willing to put his body on the line.

Haha…worth a shot.
The seasons slipping away already, some fools here seem to think the likes of brisbane, melbourne and the dragons will wait around for us while we sort out our shit.
LMAO!

Fifita reminds Blues Origin selectors

Wests Tigers rising star Andrew Fifita says he hasn't given up on earning a surprise NSW State of Origin jumper this series.

The 21-year-old might be considered a little raw for the step up to representative level, but the explosive prop believes he has the size and impact to spark a Blues team off the bench.

In Saturday night's 29-18 loss to South Sydney, Fifita played a leading role in the Tigers second half comeback.

The 194cm, 112kg giant is one of the most destructive tackle-breaking front rowers in the competition and leads the NRL's props in this category.

Fifita isn't getting ahead of himself and is conscious of biding his time in the NRL, but can't hide his drive to one day represent.

The Griffith product of Tongan heritage had already changed his allegiance from his parent's country of origin to be eligible for NSW.

"I'd love to play Origin. I've played for my country already and I've changed my alliance already and I just want to play Origin so bad. I reckon it's one of the biggest things that will ever happen in my life," Fifita told AAP.

"I guess I'm just trying to stick to form and just trying to get a gig. My eyes are set for the third Origin (match), see if I can get into that.

"Everyone adds their own little spark and I hope one day I can get in there and do my own thing and maybe, if they choose me, I can get in there and do a job (this year).

"But I've only played 31 games and I'm always going to put club footy first and wait for my opportunity to come."

Trailing 27-0 to the Rabbitohs at halftime, Fifita revealed senior players Robbie Farah and Benji Marshall tore strips off Tigers players in the dressing rooms at the break.

The Tigers defence through the middle of the field was flimsy to say the least.

Fifita said the young Tigers, without strong defenders Bryce Gibbs and Gareth Ellis, were better than what they showed against Souths.

"I guess it comes down to just working together. We're good, we are missing two of our main defence players, so it's just more the young ones who need to step up and stick tight and talk," he said.

"We made it pretty clear at halftime that we need to go out with a good hitout.

"It wasn't Sheensy (coach Tim Sheens who yelled). It was more the captain (Farah) and the older boys in the team telling us to step up. They had a bit of a yelling at us that we need to toughen up."

They said he had not met the deadline for this season hence his non selection in City V Country

I like Fifita, and i like the high aspirations he has. However, at the moment, i wouldnt even have him in our starting side let alone a Blues jersey. He's playing well and im happy with him, but i think Woods looks more like a starter to me than Fifita. Cant wait for Gibbs to come back.

He's hardly getting ahead of himself if you read his comments properly.

If he wants to play Origin he would best head elsewhere though. He is too destructive for our side. We prefer powderpuffs.

I like where Fifita's head is at, He is a leader and in a few years will be a Hannant type.

I didn't see the 1st half but as the article says he had a very solid 2nd half against souths.

That Kick and RUN was awesome

Hes better than Hannant, all he does is bash and barg, doesnt attempt to offlaod the ball at all, never ever. All the forwards where outplayed on saturday night by souffs and will need to step up against penwiff to beat them, luke lewis will have something to prove to the selectors on saturday night after being snubbed.

that is so funny he is so far away from it its not funny please haaahhhaaa

Yeh its really not that funny…. hes performing well this year and good on him for setting goals for himself nothing is Unachievable

It seems to me that Fifita and others should start playing well (and winning) with their own club before assuming they are Origin material :deadhorse:

Has the potential, but I can't see him getting a jersey this year. Weyman, Tolman, Hunt and Galloway are just the ones off the top of my head that would beat him to a jersey.

I can't imagine Sheens being too happy with what is said in this article - he usually prefers his young players to say very little.

Aaron Woods will today extend his contract for a further 3 years an Andrew Fifita for another year. Humphreys hopes to work out a longer deal for Fifita next year.

**Wests Tigers to re-sign Aaron Woods and Andrew Fifita**

WESTS Tigers have received a double boost to their forward stocks with young props Aaron Woods and Andrew Fifita to re-sign today.

And the Tigers still hold hope they can win the race for the signature of New Zealand forward Adam Blair.

A day after the club locked up young centre Blake Ayshford, the Tigers signed 20-year-old Woods to a three-year deal, and took up the option to keep Fifita for 2012.

Club chief executive Stephen Humphreys told us: "We've always had a big opinion of Aaron and while he is probably getting more game time this year than we predicted, he's starting to realise the potential he's had. With Andrew we've taken up his option and will also hope to sit down to discuss a longer deal."

As for Blair, Humphreys said nothing had changed and the Melbourne forward's signature would be a bonus.

"I think Adam will make a decision in the next few weeks and we'll see what comes of it," he said.

Either way, the future of Bryce Gibbs looks grim with the club already granting him permission to talk to other clubs.

Cronulla have been linked with Gibbs and Tigers teammate Liam Fulton.

Woods has been held in high regard by coach Tim Sheens and labelled by a comedian at a recent club sponsors' function as "an armpit with eyeballs".
