Our LDC team looks very strong.

James Lanyon (wing), highly rated prospect.
Kye Penfold (lock), former Country U16 rep '24 & Harold Matts coaches award last year.
Andrew Sio (2nd Row) & Jake Gaffney (Prop) have both made rep teams.
Ashton Chan-Sau (prop - captain), Jordan Truckle (wing), Reuben Toga (centre), William Finianos (bench) & Brock Achurch (halfback) all through Magpies Harold Matts & CUBS program last year.
Kai O'Brien (five-eighth) & Harry Bickhoff (hooker) both highly rated in their pre-season training by the coach.

Yeah was thinking the same too. Aiden Richards & Josh Vella are both turning 19 this year and will probably get the wing jerseys to start the SG Ball season for the Magpies.
Very hard to believe that either would be ahead of Lanyon. That kid is something special. Vella is solid but lacks size and X factor. Lanyon should be in flegg by mid season

I reckon he will be too. May be a club plan to start some players in their actual age group if that position has good depth in age group above.
I actually like the fact of starting in your age group and earning a call up. Better killing it and earning it than being selected and playing mediocre with the excuse of being a year young imo

Cheers in advance for any updates and opinions of anybody that keeps an eye on the juniors

curious as to whether a lot of the boys you mention are in LDC for a week to blow out cobwebs, or they remain there for the time being.

there's every chance they're trying to get a response out of Lanyon for example. as others have said he's far too good to be playing in the regional comp.

Will be interesting. I think they'll play him at least the first 3 or 4 weeks in LDC and allow Richards & Vella to start Ball on the wings. Fair chance Lanyon finishes the junior reps season in Ball and then given a taste of Flegg later on. Good position to be in with the depth in outside backs. Can't wait to see Glassie Glassie rip'n tear in Ball this season.
