You never ever read these quotes from Thurston, Cronk, Smith, Slater, Inglis, or any of the other premier players in the game. Yet its Benji's calling card, the majority of his career has consisted of him making excuses for himself. Hell, even Jarryd Hayne as lazy and worthless he's made himself to be at long periods would never say those things over and over, he'd just get on with it. Not this guy though, he has to make a spectacle of himself, then a couple months later will the say the same thing again. Einstein said that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. As someone said earlier, he complains that no one gave him guidance, or let him know when the rot set in, yet Potter gave him an obvious alarm bell and he reacted like a spoiled brat, so it shows how sincere he is about that.
It was in the best interests for everyone that he moved on cos by the end he'd become a cancer on and off the field. Couldn't do anything right on the field, cost us continuously, including a semi, and off it wanted to run the show.
The most embarrassing thing was the way he admitted to reacting to Ryan and Heignington leaving by walking into his kitchen and crying. He wrote an article about it iirc.
He's too unprofessional, and not what's needed for a club trying to forge a culture. You run away as fast as you can from the Benji Marshall's if you want a culture that is going to be positive and create results. We are better off without him, regardless of what state we are in. Having him here wouldn't benefit anyone but the opposition.

Had an interesting convo with my mate at cricket yesterday…. He was marshall's half back at keebra, he reckons that rangi chase is and always has been a better rugby league player than benji, said benji was amazing at touch though, also said benji knew the right things to say to the right people and that is why he is where he is (I cleaned that up a bit) also interesting to note Greg Eastwood was the fullback in their team at 14

Benji i've been telling you your crap for years, all you had to do was jump on here and read my many posts on how utterly hopeless your game had gotten.
But i have to admit the best thing the WT did was sign Benji Marshall back then, and also the best thing that the WT did was to let him go (probably 3 yrs too late but still).

He was alright last yr for the Dragons, probably cos he felt like he had something to prove. I think he'll revert back to his old self this yr now that he'd be comfortable in his surroundings. He looked like the old Benji in the Nines match the Dragons played earlier. Sure its just the nines, but this is a format he'd have run amok in once upon a time.
