Answer to our injury issue

I wouldn't take too much stock in it if it's a Rothfield article.

Chances are JT's probably limited the amount of weights training rather than abolished it altogether. It may not fix the issues completely but we are definitely a long way off and I welcome any change in the fitness & conditioning regime as what is currently utilised is not working.

I reckon whatever it takes to get them fit for a long and gruelling season….

I will leave it to our new S&C Group and JT,I think they know what their doing, not like some others before...

The less injuries to key players, then the longer they spend on the field winning games....hopefully...

i don't believe this for a second

sounds like a a hack decided to put something to print knowing the subject of s&c gets tigers fans talking at the moment.

They won't have got rid of free weights , how will they put muscle mass on the young kids ??

I can comfortably say that there are plenty of free weights at the club still. They have gone back to basics wit the weight training and the emphasis is definitely on core strength. Most players have improved on their strength and size from last year. Lawrence is stronger but lighter at 93kg.

Just over 10 seasons ago we signed Sheenius as coach and there was bugger all in the way of a Gym set up but within 3 seasons Sheenius coached the side to a Premiership, maybe JT has some sort of brainwave that could possibly be on for 2015 and just like the old bloke we maybe be onto something big.

Welcome back and let the signings and smashings begin woooooooooooooooo weststigers4life

I think it's just great to see such an emphasis on keeping the players on the park with this revamped S&C team. The players have stated that the coaches have been focusing on getting the players bodies right first and foremost and the other main focus being our defence. For years we've had serious injuries and ordinary defence which has led to some really bad patches and it's about time it's addressed.

It's good to see not just the coaches but the players seeming to want to get their bodies in the best shape. Using new methods and focused training where they are coming unstuck eg. Teddy and his running style.

We have a skilful backline and pack so we can score points with the right coaching. But you win games with defence.

As long as Rowdy can hit hole and come out the other side I'll be happy

Well hopefully we will have most of our team on the park and start smashing teams this year.

Here comes all the positivity for the year  , welcome back tigersule4life . i only mentioned your whereabouts last week in a Thread.
Hobbo who needs Valium when you have tigersrule4 life

I think a lot of our defensive issues were caused by a lack of fitness; we would compete for about 60 minutes but after the fatigue set in our defence fell apart. Hopefully the new fitness regime will help here.

Great news about Rowdy. Has he regained any pace?

A little, but he is not the speedster he used to be.

The focus should definitely be on endurance of muscles rather than increasing the 1RM and I think I remember my mate telling me once that mentally machines give the trainees confidence to keep going rather than free weights.
