Anthony Watmough-Credit where credit is due.

Ive been critical of watmough previously, so I thought it is only fair, if you are going to give it to a guy, you should by the same token give credit, where credit is due.

Alot of players do this sort of stuff all the time, but the papers want to focus on Todd Carney and Nate Myles playing up.

not a bad read, bit of a puff piece, but nice to read positive off field article for a change

Yeah he deserves a lot of credit for this. I still think he's a bit of a pork chop overall but at least he's out there doing stuff and not just for the good PR.

Good to see he is trying to do the right thing on and off the field
Time will tell if it contnues
He is an extremely talented footballer

Hopefully he makes a Gallen-esque transition as he gets older and realises his talent to play football is a gift and a short lived one at that and to do what good he can.

Credit where it's due, hopefully he continues to show these gestures of good will instead of pissing on shopfronts and denigrating women.

Good story.I've always thought this bloke is one of the better 2nd rowers going around.

I'd say manly have told him to do community service to compensate for the next time he screws up. He's not that holy.
Having said that as long as he's doing it people who need a hand benefit

Have a read of the guy's rap sheet, this is nothing more than spin, one of those 'redemption' stories that's so popular in the world of RL.

That's a bit harsh. If the story is to believed Watmough didn't want want any press coverage and didn't participate in the story.

Just one highlight from an illustrious off field career:-

Miss Rixon told the court she feared for her safety and that she had been subjected to several violent episodes during her seven-year relationship with Watmough.
On one occasion, after a New Year's Eve party in 2004, the footballer arrived home and began pelting her with coins.
"There were indents in the unit walls from the coins and one of them hit my head," she said. "I had a bruise on my forehead."
Miss Rixon said she was also hit on the shoulder with a chair thrown by Watmough and had a sliding glass door slammed into her.
She told the court she was scared of Watmough and feared further violence despite the fact their relationship had ended.
"I've seen what he has done before to me. I don't want to be hurt the way I was hurt," she said.

But it's all sweet now because he's working at the soup kitchen? Really, I despair

it doesn't make him a saint, but he is doing something good, which should be applauded.
It doesn't erase his past, nothing can change that, but I for one am glad he is doing something good, it is difficult to turn your life around, this one act does not do that, but if he keeps it up than he can do that
