Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

IMO any high cost signing must be on the rise near the top of the game or at the top. I don’t want the club paying big dollars for a guy on the slide. Thats why I would think long and hard about a guy like big Nelson.

I think I would prefer to take a risk with a 24 year old on a mid sized contract who is on the up than NAS but I guess finding the right one is the hard part. The Souths guy sounds like he could do a job, but if his asking price is 500g as reported, I would probably look elsewhere

I agree on NAS. Don’t see anything good coming of him. There aren’t many success stories of players who have had long careers at the Storm, going on to other clubs.

Yeah pass on NAS. Tino or Haas are the only two you would break the bank for who can negotiate from Nov 1. Moale is a good option based on youth & price. Tartak as manager works for us, we will get a look in at least.

Given the limited roster spots & depth of roster, we need a top 17 player for the middle & as said a right sided back.

If Bellamy can't get Nelson playing first grade every week and producing more positive output than the kind of stuff that ends up being costly to the team, then what chance have we got of getting good value out of the fat overpaid clumsy slob.

Yeah, the guy can create some damage but it's not always beneficial to his team.

My pop was always adamant that the tigers would never win when they scored first... Any way of checking that statistic?
Yeah I reckon if you kick a goal early you get flogged. I remember being in the berwrongle stands, fully decked out in black and white, had some stuffed toy mum had made a magpie jersey for it and we kicked a goal in the first couple of minutes.
Dogs won 52-2.
Still the sound of a whistle that early in a game chills me.
Oh and kicking a first half field goal is just asking for a flogging in the second half.
That’s my hit me harder word for my Dom, “first half field goal [This word has been automatically removed]” and out comes the double mace.

I would imagine NAS would not be commanding anywhere near what he is on now. I think it would be worth a question. He is the profile we need.

Obvious questions as to why he can't crack that Melbourne side. I suspect his discipline is a liability and he just doesn't fit into the Melbourne system.

The fact Bellamy gave him that contract initially though suggest they once thought very, very highly of him.

NAS is yet another of the players people on here think we should sign because they think it's half a decade ago. The guy hasn't played a full season since 2022. We are finally almost clear of dead weight contracts for players who are obviously past it. This guy would be a massive step back.
He’s the same trap that Olam, Leillua, Bird etc have been. He’ll only start declining once he leaves the Storm system. I think we should keep trying to milk Panthers. Like Smith, or we could really ambitious and make a play for Liam Henry who is also available November 1 I believe 🤔

Looking at NAS’ minutes this year. A lot of sub 40 and even some sub 30. Not what we need when we already have Roycey giving us 20 minute master classes. Would much rather a Lindsay Smith type who is available November 1 who plays close to 60.
Can agree NAS himself is probably not the guy, but I think we need another impact guy on both sides of the ball like NAS, not another plodder.
