It doesn't matter what he did initially because he recognised that playing with his mates was more important to him then the money and changed his mind accordingly. He recognised he made a mistake and not only back-flipped for less money but risked tarnishing his reputation. So obviously playing with his mates was very important to him.

Yes yes, the article, that's the third time you've mentioned it. Would you be expecting him to say he reneged because no one else followed him? How do you think the club and supporters would have reacted if he had said that? Not favorably i wouldn't have thought. Him going on about his mates is pure PR fluff.
