Anzac day 2025

They'll be rolling in their graves seeing the state of our country today. Lest we forget
My great uncle who wrote in his diary (which my sister now cares for) whilst preparing in Egypt of the rumours that his battalion was about to be deployed to a coming attack in the Dardanelles area (Gallipoli), would be mostly proud of what our nation has become.

He and those that fought against facsism in the next world war would though "be rolling in their graves" seeing that the long term ally and so called leader of the free world has abdicated it's role in recent months, to become an unreliable partner and authoritarian oligarchy.

Meanwhile that administration continues chastising the leader of an ally in Ukraine that agreed to their proposed unconditional ceasefire more than a month ago, whilst supporting the dictator of a long term enemy that did not that continues bombarding civilians. Please see from @13:25 in the YouTube link below of a fearful man and his dog during the latest Kyiv city attacks.

Some want to free Palestine, some booing welcome to country, put it away for another time
Our light horseman freed Palestine in 1917 during the charge at Beersheba, Palestine. Troopers from the 4th (Western Victorian) and 12th (NSW) Regiments undertook the charge which was captured in this movie.

What’s that got to do with paying respects to the fallen at a dawn service?
My great grandfather was in the war. Today is about remembering and respect, not about some halfwits wanting to protest. There’s 300 odd other days for that.

If I have misread that you are saying that freeing Palestine has already occurred then I apologise. Otherwise I stand by my original comments of using the other 300+ days of the year to protest

31 light horsemen and 74 horses died in the charge. Ironically, the charge occurred 30 years before the State of Israel was born. I recall going to primary school and one of my mates was a very recent Turkish immigrant whose grandfather had fought the ANZACs at Gallipoli. Nice guy and nice family. They just wanted to be Australians. Thanks for your advice.

Please excuse my dumbness. Still unsure of your point. Are you saying people should, or should not protest today at a dawn service?
That’s my only beef, everyone has different views, but surely given the amount of opportunities throughout a year someone could protest, they could abstain during a dawn service?

Our soldiers fought and died in Palestine and their sacrifice should be remembered. Those who were injured and suffered disabilities should also be remembered. The extremists who yelled when the indigenous elder was speaking caused great offence and should be punished. I didn't hear of the Palestine protests. We may hear more about it tomorrow. I have attended many commemorative ceremonies at Chungkai, Kanchanburi, Kranji, Taiping and Bomana war cemeteries over the years as well as many Anzac Day dawn services. I have attended these as both a private citizen and also as a member of the ADF. Our family has lost family members in both world wars so I am well aware of the significance of the day.

Thanks for sharing your history. Again, time and place for protest. We will continue to disagree obviously Thanks for your service in the ADF.
