The only thing I can think of was some people wanting to rip up his contract because he made a joke about our finals hopes during GF celebrations. Don't recall anyone questioning his playing ability.

Nah...the big change from Tamou is Apis talent ,ability,smarts,comittment and effort having been bought at the peak of his career rather than the end like Tamou looking to coast to the retirement village
WTs have also allowed Api the freedom to showcase his consirable talents,incl leadership,that entrenches him as the clearly best no 9 in Aust.....Cook doesnt enter the conversation any more for SOO no9.Hes surely leap frogged Hunt and Grant too for Kangaroos
And finally,he brings the "smarts" of which that our departing no 7"(now its my team"..Brooks) has been totally devoid for the past 11 years

You can’t compare the others to Api. Not even in the same stratosphere as Api in terms of effort. Pap has been a big disappointment for me. Has had his moments, but not the player he was the Eels in 21 and 22.
