Back in high school, under 16’s we went undefeated. Previous years we were 50% win ratio.

The difference was a coach that gave us a simple and effective base game plan. We all knew where to be and what was going to happen 2-3 plays ahead.

We were also coached to know what to look for and when to pull the trigger.

It’s amazing what a difference this made in such a short time. Same guys, same opposition, just a structure we could understand and we could reset to when we had the ball.

I’ve been in a side that won a gf after a solid year and pretty only 1-2 changes for the next year with same coach and same practices. Made the finals but even throughout the year didn’t have the same edge. Few had the same hunger as before

I mean I get it, but this is a three-time premiership winner who will be driving the standards, not Zane Musgrove or BJ Leilua. I’m far more inclined to believe Api because he knows what it takes.

Bateman, Klemmer, Papali’i and Sezer will additionally prove invaluable given their experiences, and keep in mind not one of them had a full preseason.

I’d much rather him stay quiet but in this day and age with 24 hour round the clock coverage and podcasts from various channels it was bound to happen. obviously the preseason fluff will come thick and fast, but this is our captain talking about drawing a line in the sand. let’s see what transpires.

the two biggest things to come out of that interview is that Marshall understands what is required to compete in the modern game and that Koroisau will be driving high standards from day 1 of preseason with Bateman and Klemmer beside him. that's huge. providing we do some more work on the roster between now and January we could seriously rocket up the table.

Koroisau is already with Ellis, one of our best "established" players we ever signed 🐅 💪

A lot of players have come & said things like this before but I genuinely believe it when Api says it… this guy busted his arse all year long & gave it 100% every game. Without him I don’t think we would’ve won a game all year !!!

You can tell he wants to build something here… he could’ve easily hit the market for 2025 & most clubs would be trying to sign him instantly but he let his actions do the talking by committing for a further 2 years. I don’t have a lot of hope for the future but this guy makes me have hope 🟠⚪️⚫️

Haha i'm just not subjective with my opinions mate if he played good I'd say he played good & if he didn't i'd say he didn't. You must've missed the first 5-6 weeks of the season where I was bagging him for his rubbish performances but don't let that ruin your narrative

I like the way Api talks candidly about the side and respect that he has got the runs on the board to know what it takes better than most - including all us arm chair experts. As the club captain he has to demonstrate a level of positivity it would be totally unacceptable to speak otherwise and all clubs are required to supply media as per their contracts with the NRL regardless of their standings. Of all the sides in the comp we arguably are the side most can't see doing much better next year so the discussion is always going to be centred around what went wrong and what how next year will be any different.

Not trying to toot my own horn but I literally said this all year that our strength was our forward pack & trying to play expansive attacking footy with the backline we had was setting us up to fail. Api pretty much confirmed what we all knew... Sheens was holding the side back & once Benji gained more control we started to improve.

How is that tooting your own horn?
We had all been saying that for the whole off season leading into the year.
We’ve got the same problem heading into 2024 currently.
