I am concerned that we have not properly covered our bases for the centre positions, especially in the early part of the season before Simona returns from injury. If Lawrence has another season like.2013 who have we to replace him?

This is obviously a hugely poor trade for us however Benji has been inconsistent and has a talent for coming up with the wrong play at critical moments.

I wouldn't though compare Benji leaving and gaining Austin. The issue is Benji has left and we need to find someone who can slot into the 6 role. It might be Austin but it could also be Anasta and based on last years form if we have Anasta in the halves I think we will have a very poor year.

Is our overall squad better - I think so. How much better is the question.

My bad- meant "better of the buys"
For eg hull taking Jacob miller for us to keep brooks is a better buy for us.

I'm slowly starting to understand why they let miller go. However I'm still not happy with the timing.

Ayshford when in form is a dangerous centre, but we havent seen that for a while. I haven't followed the form of Pat Richards but from all reports he'll be a better option than Blake.

Again, with Keith Lulia, I haven't seen him much. Joel Reddy was always a solid centre, but nothing flash. Call this one even.

Marty Taupau and Corey Patterson for Shaun Spence and Eddy Pettybourne. Better off on both accounts.

Nathan Brown and Andy Fiagatusa for Matt Groat and Matt Bell (assuming he's leaving). Groat never really found his feet. Brown seems a much better prospect. Bell again was always solid, Fiagatusa is unknown but I like the cut of his jib. Only time will tell.

Blake Austin I'm excited about. His performance for Wenty last weekend was awesome. It seems like he's really keen to have a crack at securing that #6 spot. In saying this, Benji showed us what he can do playing alongside a proper halfback. I would've liked to have seen more of the Brooks/Marshall combo.
 
Benji on pre 2013 foor is irreplaceable.

On last years form im hoping Brooks will be a sensation.

Also believe Reddy to be a loss.

^reddy is a massive loss IMO. Good depth player who is solid and reliable in most situations.

Only the Benji trade is poor, i think every other one is either equal (very few) or better (most of them). Which is great.

I'm expecting a top 10 next season with this squad and less injuries than 2013\. Also to be in contention with the vast majority of our games.

Patience is required. The flow-on effect of using so many second-tier players in 2013 means it impacts our 2014 salary cap. Mayer has said we'll shop big for the 2015 season.
