Are we still training

I remember last year when we just miised the top 8 that Sheens made the boys train right up until the grand final as some sort of punishment for not making the finals. given we again just missed out is tim making the boys train to the end of the season again this year.

I dont know if that would do any good or not to keep training when our year has gone just interested to know if we are.

I think there was an article in the sunday telegraph saying the boys would be training up until grand final day.

the local campbelltown papers said the boys would have four days off after their last game and then get back into it.

Fail to see the point to be honest?
We have an injury ravaged squad (8 painkilling injections to make the last game) you would think giving all players a break now and starting pre-season early would be the ticket when it is more relevant and combinations etc. can be worked on. Then again I don't know the ins and outs I'm sure Sheens has his reasons.

Im not sure how much training they do in he pre-season so I may be wrong.

But I would prefer the players to have a month off now, and start training again a month before most of the other teams (like the one's playing finals now) so that the players can recover from any injuries at the moment and get their fitness levels up before the other teams do next season.

.
they make the top 8 they would train, they still get paid, so why not train.
value for money.

Yeah, that would be how I'd do it. Whatever they develop in the next month would be lost after the break. Break now and then come back early!

Exactly. It makes no sence. It really didn't have much impact after doing it last year. Let the players have a break then get started again a bit earlier in the off season.

What it does is it gets the team used to pushing it for that extra months, so when (yes when, not if) we make the finals next year, they won't burn out.

What are they training for…..the off season!..dumb move.....freshen up the boys,,,allow them to completely get over their injuries...no wonder we often start the year with some of the boys injured!

 What a crack up thread this is…....I dont think they will be doing anything tooooooooooo..........strenuous...

Lets not forget Robbie, Sauce and Lawry have been named in the train on squad as well as Benji and Ellis for their respective nations..... I'm sure the rest of the boys will be more than happy to help these guys out......

Sheens on the other hand will probably have other things on his mind.....

The players enjoyed the training last year, it will be a lot more relaxed and the injured players will just get on with their rehab anyway. Better to have them train and keep up some fitness as opposed to letting them do nothing. They'll get a break at the end of September and another one at Christmas.

Yeah it wouldn't be anything strenuous.

They wouldn't start proper fitness training until about 18 weeks before the next season starts.

Boys, it just be maintenance training and rehab….no long road runs or such.
They get paid the good coin and are employed for 12 months per contract with 4 weeks leave as per any other working individual.
They only train for a couple of hours in the morning and then do other stuff during the day like sponser meetings and club & media duties.
Not a bad life.

Morris, Collis, Hammer etc still in training with us? I think they're technically still under contract for a couple more months.

Im pretty sure the contract lasts until October 31st.

Im just wandering whether, with Payne doing his charity work instead, could that be a sign that maybe he wont be with us next year because he isnt training with the team?

Hopefully the training is light if they still are. I can't see too many benefits for them.

I can't see why an extended break and start a little earlier next season is not taken. There are some niggling injuries all over the place and than there are blokes like Ayshford who haven't had a proper off-season. I just don't see the risk.
