Are you a supporter or a fan?

I think I am a supporter! Good times or bad, wins or loses I cheer for and support the mighty wests tigers. I signed up to this forum to be in touch with like minded people. I have been really disappointed lately to read all the so called fans riding the team down all the time. Don't you remember the bad times! I take every victory as a chance to cheer, losses are disappointing but I don't whine about it as there is always next week and a chance to support the boys again. Please have faith tigers fans and support our boys! I'm sure we will be repaid for our support as we were in 05\. We are so lucky to have so many special players in the one team I know they will click!

Fanatic. Could never follow another team, even if Wests Tigers folded, i couldn't do it. The thought of supporting another team for me is a moral issue and makes me sick lol.

WESTS TIGERS TILL I DIE!!!

Whats the difference?

I see a distinct difference in some people here (minority) support the players…the majority support the club....some waver to whatever the situation is

I see things like the club saying "the only way to guarantee a seat for rd 1 is to buy a $65 membership" as misleading, others see it as good business.

Then there are those that would prefer the wooden spoon than signing a certain player named willie....thats not really supporting players, club or anything but putting you own feelings first.

I dislike how quickly people turn on our ex players when they leave ( though I put my hand up as guilty too - Scott Prince)

The ''true supporters'' though, you just cant beat them.

I supported Balmain. I went to many games in the 80's and early 90's but my interest was certainly starting to wane by the end of the 90's….

With the Wests Tigers I routinely make 12+ games a year and have been active on these forums for a long time.
I dont just support them...I am a fanatic...i.e. a FAN!

wtg buddy . your the best ,can i have your number for inspiration .ItS PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO KEEP THIS TEAM AFLOAT WIN LOSE OR DRAW RUGBY LEAGUE IS ALWAYS THE WINNER WITH YOU . CHEERS BUDDY

As an old magpie fan… I was there in the tough times and familiar with wests on the bottom of the table...

Its early days for 2012

People talk about the table more than ever before with social media, forums and pay tv exposing it more than ever before.... More exposure = more opportunity criticism (compare it to the 24/7 criticism of politicians)

In the older days we never had the hungry beast of media talking and publishing rugby league news, rumours and results...

WT is still a force in 2012

I think I'm both a fan and supporter and agree with Ink with that what is the difference between either

I want the best for the Tigers both on and off the field and like many on here get a touch carried away from time
to time

But it is only because I love the Tigers :sign:

You can scream and shout at your children when they do something wrong.
You can celebrate their achievements which make you proud.
WT are my team, and I'll let them know how i feel by the way they play the game.
You can't always be the best. But you can always try you hardest.
At the end of the day, like our children, with the WT you will never dis-own them.

Whats with all these confusing threads by new members? whats the difference? :crazy

Fans are fickle - don't you know someone who has changed what team they follow simply because they're (currently) duds and grab onto the coat tails of the current winning team?

Been to 11 Tigers games by plane, including every match in 2009, and drove to Melbourne in 2002.

My list is:
Melbourne x 2 (2002, 2010)
Auckland x 2 (2009, 2011)
Gold Coast x 3 (2008, 2010, 2011)
Brisbane x 3 (2005, 2007, 2009)
Townsville x 2 (2006, 2009)

Out of all those games … the Tigers have only won once! And that was Auckland last year ... Either I'm a sucker for punishment or a fan/supporter!

What a game it was in Auckland last year though! First half they were getting punished and were down by 20 with 20 to go. I thought my curse was going to continue and swore to myself I'd never travel again to a game out of NSW! Glad my fortunes changed!

I am new to this forum and have only been on it this year. I enjoy it immensely even bug and dammo. I have followed the tigers all my life. I go to the game with my mum and dad and my son and daughter. Supporting the tigers is not a choice in our family they and we are part of the same family. We went to the games even when they played as the Sydney Tigers out of Parra stadium where the crowd was so small it was easier for the ground announcer to call spectator changes to the players. I am yet to see this forum when we win well but I would like to share my philosophy on supporting the tigers. We are not bad losers but we are great winners. Let's get behind the team and enjoy the good times that will be here. Nobody knows when but when it happens it is truly worth it. GO YOU GOOD THINGS

I think there are really three groups of supporters/fans
1.what the club offers me
2.what I can offer the club
3.a balanced approach

There's no real difference in being a fan and a supporter it's the exact same thing.
As a supporter of the club I'll praise the team when they play well and criticize when they don't play well. There's no point burying our heads in the sand and just posting crap like go tigers there's always next week! Or wests tigers for life! The forum is a place for discussion, sometimes that can be negative as seen with our terrible performance against St George. If all we did was agree and praise the team regardless of their performance this would be one boring place.
