Are you happy with WT Recruitment/retention for 2010?

I am saying no.

We have lost too much experience and replaced it with bargain basement players of questionable ability or background.

Please discuss.

I will know once the team actually runs out after a few games in 2010\. The individual recruitment may not look that crash hot but it will depend on how the team takes shape and combinations that are forming etc. etc

I disagree. What experience have we lost? Morris…...we wont miss him, Collis......good riddance, Halatau......thank god we dont have to put up with him again, Skando....replaced by Cayless. Have i missed anyone? All the guys that will replace the above players are much better.

Overall im happy with our squad for next year. Some signings baffle me, like Daniela, Fitzy and maybe Fulton. But i love the signings of Brown, Taumata and Cayless, and im open minded about Moors. We didnt need another 2nd rower, but from what ive heard about Moors, he could be an absolute sensation if played right. I heard we may look at him as a front rower, but im told that was his down fall at Penrith. When used as a 2nd rower, he excels with a surprisingly good work rate, "great' ball skills and very mobile. In short, he's regarded as a bigger version of Frank Pritchard.

Next year cant come quick enough.

Mate I think you are spot on… I think Daniela has something about him but with the abundance of outside backs i feel his signature was a waste.

Well said Sirro

Is recruitment for 2010 finished?

As for retention some great moves there…...Moltzen, Ayshford, Mataka Akeripa, Fafita X 2, Dwyer, Pritchard, Davis, Schirnack X 2 etc

As for no longer here.....Morris, Collis, Laurie, Payne, Halatau, Hanbury, Galea, McDonnell. Tagive, Gallant, Trimarchi. Skando.....well there is only 2 players amoung that lot who I think we will miss.....good luck at the Raiders Danny.......Happy retirement Skando.....

Area's we needed to strenghten....Cayless gives us more size as does Moors and of course what a masterstroke Fitzhenry could be....

More options in the halves that are actual halves,,,,,,and as for outside backs well there are some blokes in state cup champing at the bit to play first grade....

What was the question again Bug......?

Spot on Geo
The dead wood is gone & for once in many years we have genuine depth across the park
I think all our signings have great potential espesially Moors & Daniela & by all accounts (even though im not holding my breath) we have signed Tuqiri.

Well done tigers

The only one I was unhappy with was letting Gallant go, but the recruitment guys have got us better depth and a better mix of experience and youth. Going off Royce's comments too, it looks like we will have another 2 players yet….

...and I think Brown and Danellia might be decent buys. I don't know much about them except I loved their price tag relative to their results in fantasy league last year. Those fellas were probably cheap buys for us.

Moors is listed as a prop on the official website.

The signings of Brown, Taumata and Cayless are awsome - None to pricey and plenty of improvement.

However it is Tame Toupu @ 117 kgs that I am hoping is the buy of the year for the Tigers

Tuaki and Toupo …. Peni who...

Im very happy with the goings on atm.

The mix of kids coming through and some older/rep players has me feeling very confident that we are in for a big year.

Agree also. The Tigers will have more size and depth in the forwards for next season, as well as a good halves combo with either Benji/Moltzen or Benji/Taumata and there is some good size and pace out wide. With Folkes punishing the players over summer I expect the Tigers will be one of the fittest and most mobile teams running around next season.

I have certainly been very happy with the players that we have let go this year. Letting go of Collis and Morris will be great for our clubs playing ability. I think that over the next year we will show alot more attack then weve shown over the past couple of years due to the fact that we will having a good attacking halfback.

too my understanding moors can play at centre..
it wont happen but imagine

1\. taumata
2\. tuaki
3\. moors
4\. lawrence
5\. tupou
6\. benji
7\. moltzen

wow..

I agree, I am so so so glad that we let Collis go. He was a waste of a lot of money.

Here's hoping we pick up Lote and an extra prop - if we can pull that off then I think we will have done very well on recruitment. I have heard good things about Moors and I think Brown could provide some real value.

Expect Mataka and Dwyer to step up next year. I hope Folks really puts a bit more size on these two.

And, if this young monster Murdoch is half as good as the posts on this site indicate then it is very exciting indeed…..

Our recruitment and retention of players this year has been excellent. This is the first time that I have felt confident before the start of the season that we have the ammunition (if used correctly) to give the comp a big shake. I see Folksey playing a gigantic part in making all of it happen. I can't wait to see the "washed up" Cayless partner the big fella in the front row. For the first time he will have a real hardman front rower backing him up. He is a skilful player too as I recall. Go the mighty Wests Tigers. :supporter:

A clean out was promised, and a clean out was delivered. We have bought plenty of depth, along with lots of regular starters. Our squad in 10 is stronger than it was in 07-09 on promise, and should deliver more than it did in 06\. A good season should be in store, although I get the feeling it will be similar to 04, the team just won't gel enough early on, although we should build fine for 11, where we will be a real threat.

I am fairly happy we have picked up a prop which is something we desperately needed for depth. The only player we have lost who maybe we will miss is Collis and he has been ordinary for a few years.I am not overly impressed with Daniela or Brown but they may add something down the track.Fitzy is a total waste of money but i am sure would be cheap.

There is still the possibility to pick up a player or 2(salary cap willing),all in all this off season has been one of our better ones and i look forward to 2010 with enthusiasm.
