Are you happy with WT Recruitment/retention for 2010?

I put not sure. I'm very happy with the retention side of it, however I think we lacked that big name signing who we cant wait to see play in a Tigers jersey, someone like a Lima or a Tuqiri. IMO we've signed a lot of rough diamonds who could be a complete flop and never move out of State Cup, or they could be the buy of the season. But I guess the lack of a big name signing means that the younger guys like Fifita etc have less of a hurdle to climb over to get into first grade. 2010 will be verrrrrrry interesting.

Also, I dont see the reason in buying so many similar players, ie Daniella & Brown, Fulton & Flanagan. IMO we've got enough depth in the club to cover those positions. Roqica, Pritchard, Mullaney, Davis and god forbis Fitzhenry can fill in gaps outwide, especially with the inclusion of Tupou. And the U20's forward pack this year dominated and we have more backrowers in the club to supply the NRL ten times over so I dont see why Fulton AND Flanagan were needed. Happy to eat my words though if any of the aforementioned players dominate.

And as others have said, a clean out was promised and a clean out was delivered, not only in the playing ranks, but I think the biggest difference will be with Folkes. As good a guy as Mescia was to have around the team, Folkes brings a professional aspect to the team's training which can only be good.

yeah fairly happy, I think Folkes could be the buy of the year. This year has certainly been one of the better years in terms of recruitment/retention, at least better than the last few anyway.

I picked…......................Not Sure...........................

One more big name prop and I would have been in the positive.

I'm with you scob.A quality prop would have put the icing on the cake.Still I'm happy with what is there…..Roll on season 2010.I'm going down to Mackay for the trial in February, will run my eye over them then, hope Coach Sheens runs a lot of the new blokes.Pleased to see Steve Folkes is a West Tiger.....

Yes very happy at this stage. Most excited about the extension of Moltzen and Ayshford along with some more depth in the forwards.

The only ones I'm upset about losing are Tagive and to a lesser extent Gallant.

We have anohter group of youngsters coming through with good potential also and half of them probably won't see a game this year.

Cayless was a great buy. I think that a few of the other blokes like Arana, Brown, daniella, paulo, tapu were all baught fairly cheaply. It has me baffled why Fulton and Fitzhenry were baught, they are a bit of a waste of money. In saying that Sheens did say that they baught some players to make the State Cup squad stronger. In the final of the state cup we only had one player with 1st grade experience and i think they have baught to add to that. I am also fairly confident that loti has agreed but can not be made official due to NRL regulations. Another prop would cap it off.

best recruitment/retention since 2000.

Yeah agreed mate and I think that , along with a few of you that Folkes will turn out to be the buy of the year.

Might teach that other bloke a thing or two

A good season should be in store, although I get the feeling it will be similar to 04, the team just won't gel enough early on, although we should build fine for 11, where we will be a real threat.

 It's always the season after…

I voted for no.

Daniella, Brown and Fitzfumble are reserve graders and a waste of money.

Topou and Cayless are injury prone and will be lucky to last 1 game.

Fulton is good but Sheens will continue to use him the wrong way.

Taumata is like Carney. Has talent but can't stay out of trouble.

We need another prop, and a really good one at that. Lima would have been good for us.

Folkes is our best signing but even he can only do so much.

Oh and Moors is not a centre. Too slow for a centre. He isn't a front rower either but Sheens will probably play him there. His best position is wide running second rower.

changes were made from the line up.
all for the better.
look forward and be positive.
have a good feeling about next season

Yes. Swept out a truckload of dead weight. The team has a tonne of depth now and plenty of quality dark horses who could slip into the team and make a huge impact.

The retention I think is the most important, we have a really good batch of young blokes coming through & everyone would've been crying blue murder if we allowed any of those blokes from the NYC team head to a rival team.

I think the recruitment has done well & only need the cherry on top if/when Lote comes here… we will challenge hard for the finals & maybe even premiership in NRL.

But I think NYC is where we should be expecting big things... the boys got dead set robbed this year & with only a few losses [big ones in the Fafita boys] we have also brought in some real talented young kids as well, so I can't wait to see them go around next year as well

Think Collis may hurt us in the long run and would have liked to keep Tagive but with Ayshford, Moltzen and co the future is bright and you can't keep them all

We have a top 8 side for 2010, and the side should be in the top 8, no excuses. With a bit of game time together, and a bit more fine tuning of the squad for season 11, we should be a title threat.

i think we have had a clean out which was needed replaced with some good mix of young and experience folkes could be an x factor as for d.collis i think he wanted a change of clubs he will do well .i know we are in for a good year because we have good back up players which we didnt have or sheens would not use them.    :wahoo:

We have always had a squad capable of making the top 8 but poor positional selections and game tactics have let us down. I hope it changes next year but I won't too surprised if it doesn't. There is no reason why we can't win the comp next year if they all play to their potential and the right tactics and selections are made. Fitzfumble must be kept in the Balmain Ryde side. Just say NO to the fWo!!!

We have a good mix in our roster and should be a top eight team, but I still think we are a year or so behind the top sides. I think the front row will be our main problem again, Cayles was a good pick up but we really needed Lima or another player of his standing. To expect our young frontrowers to step up to the mark and make a big impact in year one is a pipe dream. Look at Gibbs he is finally starting to look like a Fgrader after how many years!!

Anyway if they dont make the eight heads must roll
