Today I tweeted
"Wests Magpies and Balmain Tigers both should have folded in 1999"
I stand by that opinion. This isn't about results or on field performances. Wests Tigers for 15 years have tried to keep both sides of the fence happy. For the record, I've never supported Balmain or Wests. I came to Rugby League late (21 y.o) and haven't known a time were Balmain and Wests played in the major competition.
I've supported Wests Tigers for 8-9 years now. In that time, I have lost all respect for both sides of the joint venture. The fans, management and, in recent times, former players who enjoy running their mouth.
I started supporting Wests Tigers because I believed they were the local NRL team as I live in Campbelltown. Oh how wrong I have been. However, 15 years on we remain divided by postcodes. I understand it's not easy to form one united club but the efforts made IMO, have been half hearted. It continues to be Leichhardt v Campbelltown. Such pettiness. The sooner we abandon these grounds, the better. It's time to centralise at ANZ Stadium and be done with it.
I am sick to death of seeing opposing groups of the joint venture trying to bring each other down. The fan base, the politics and more importantly the joint-venture has failed with their endeavours to form an NRL club.
_(http://wp.me/p2XWQ7-bp). But it won't happen. Wests Group would never sell because after all these years, they finally have an upper hand over Balmain and I get the impression they want them to die off completely.
What does the club need to do to become one. I don't care for Wests or Balmain, I never will because I'm a Wests Tigers supporter and it's time people accepted that.
That is the problem with all of this One side of the JV will always have the upper hand
And if they don't they will continue their underhanded crap to try and push their own barrows until one does have the upper hand
The independent board will change little and it will only be short term if they do
They don't care one iota for the WT's and never will_
