Robbie Ross was a good fullback ..damn good as I said to Hobbo better than Potter was in the 90's

Potter played pretty well in the 90's still. Played strong in 92/93 GF's from memory too.

Bar Maguire, I don’t think there’s a bad pick in the bunch. It’s like in the last comp, you’ll find you’re rating players you think are decent really low because of the amount of quality there is.

Yeah they were all very hard to separate. Having to stretch the memory back makes it harder to judge who goes where.

Was testing the memory bank trying to remember what players sort of were out-and-out fullbacks as opposed to part-timers.
Brasher, Blake and Shearer were great players but couldn't remember how long they were actual fullbacks instead of playing centre, 5/8 and wing respectively.
Great thread though, very interesting and a great trip down memory lane.

Shearer played mainly fullback for Qld ...but after they found Colin Scott had night blindness we didn't have many options until Belcher came along

He was a better centre imo

At Balmain Brasher was an out & fullback, only playing centre in his younger days because Garry Jack was there

Seersy was a great fullback, awesome cover defender with a tonne of ticker under the high-ball as well. Not to mention his pace and support play were strong points for him at the Bears. Would of rated him a lot higher if not for the classy players in the voting with him.

Norths had a great side back then. Just couldn’t kick in for a grand final

That's the thing...it swings and turnsthough..

Hodgo is a good example for this I love him in my top 5 players of all time but his time in the 90's was spent mostly on the wing with Leedsy at FB but it's Hodgo..2000's different story

Should of in 94 when Lomax was sent...only for Larsen to go 20 min later. That was a seriously good side that year.

Unfortunately yep. They were my 2nd side back in those days, shame they couldn't of won a title.
Would never of thought Daryl Halligan's poor goalkicking would've cost them a GF spot like it did in the '91 Prelim final vs Penrith.
And they got dudded in the Prelim of '94 when Harrigan basically sent Larson off as a get-square because Lomax had been sent earlier in the match. Good ol' "honest Bill" the cheating flog.

I was at that game. My first finals game as a birthday gift. Balmain were so poor so I supported my old mans team in Norths as my second team. A lot of good times spend on the hills at North Sydney Oval and Leichhardt.

Not to sound bias cos Lockyer was mine. But how some had Hodgson in front of him is beyond me.

I found it really hard remembering - were they the best in that position? Lockyer was brilliant in my memory. But was that as a fullback or 5/8?

What year did Jack retire? 92/93 or so?
Was trying to remember where Brasher played for NSW as well.
