Didn't realise Mr. Payne Haas was part Filipino.

Broncos player Gehamat Shibasaki has some Japanese and Malaysian descent and up and coming brothers Gordon and Jonathan Chan Kum Tong are of an Asian background.

Any other players past or present?

Craig Wing being the most notable.

OK Albert.

I got it.

Mr. Rosenfeld

DING !!! . . . We have a winner ! give this man a pick of the meat trays.

The Yow Yeh name is Aboriginal and they come from Queensland….I am going back over 50 years here....One of them played for Balmain and another was in the same Battalion as moi....He and his cousin Stewie Harald were both very good boxers.... :sign:

According to wiki Yow Yeh is Asian - Chinese great-grandfather via the South Pacific. Look up Jharal Yow Yeh. Also in The Advertiser

The Yow Yeh That I know are Australian Aboriginal 100%….I don't know where Jharal Yow Yeh came from....But my Yow Yeh is old enough to be his great grandfather....They are a fairly big family I believe so years ago one of the boys may have married an asian girl....I don't know.... :sign:

Yup, first post in 13 odd years however these I know from reading and discussing the same over 40 odd years of following league and the Mighty Magpies

Bill Keato -Wests Fullback (Chinese Heritage)
William 'Ranji' Joass and brothers-Wests forward 1910-1920 (Indian/Dutch Heritage)
Dev Dines - Wests forward/Qld born (Indian Heritage)
Paul Khan-Saints forward in the 70's…(Indian Heritage)
Albert Fullivai-Canberra Winger 90's ..(Fijian/Indian Heritage)

There are certainly more particularly those from Capricornia Qld due to their close proximity to Southern Asia...Thursday Islanders always seem to have some sort of Asian/Indian heritage due to their long standing relationships with sea farers of the day (500 years or so..)

Interesting thread-Cheers!

True of that kid Gehamat Shibasaki - I read up on him a year or two ago when I saw his name in the Broncos system, because it's a weird name. Looks Turkish - Japanese.

Turns out his great-GF was a Japanese pearl diver up there and obviously got involved w the locals.
