Attitude and Performance...

I think realistically blaming the coach or one particular player or players for a dreadful performance on a huge day in memory of a playing legend, falls short on the actual problem...
The playing groups attitude while on the ground was of casual lets play this game and get it over with....signs of immaturity and no understanding of playing with heart and guts...
The second half they finally understood that to win a game you must perform to a standard that you are paid to do....some of these players have had seasons of NRL experience and should know what their job is and how to go about it....others are still learning but are playing well(Laurie,Stef etc)...
Madge is shaping this lot from the ground up,not an easy task when some cant get it right on game day...
I will say that this team apart from some have mental defficiencies when under pressure and that affects their performance...this is the core problem within this team...solve it and the team starts winning....
Who do we get to mentally prepare these guys?...

If we had a team full of passionate players such as Doueihi, Laurie, Luciano Leiluia, we'd have it made:+1:
What's up with Noffa, he has not been the same player as in previous seasons, normally I would have included him with the "passionate" players of this team:anguished:

I'm very disappointed with James Tamou- why does he only play short minutes every week, he is the leader he should be on the field leading his men:worried:
We - (the club the players) definitely have an attitude problem - and we've had it for years, what's wrong at the Wests Tigers :disappointed_relieved: what happened yesterday shouldn't have happened -if we had a team full of the passionate players as I have noted above- we would have won easily.
Passion is what is needed at the Wests Tigers:heart_eyes_cat:

The coach prepares them by dropping players will little or no interest or passion to reserves. Replace them with players who have ability, promise and passion. Many of the players yesterday have a condescending attitude. They know that they will be selected week in and week out no matter how badly they play.

If Madge doesn't send at least two or three of these players to the reserve grade coach on Tuesday then I, together will a fair percentage of Wests tigers supporters, will be very disappointed.

Not sure about Luci being mentioned here. He looked brilliant in the trials, but since the season started he seems a step behind the pace. Another that has spent a fair bit of time walking, our whole team looks lethargic.

You know what is weird. We only missed 13 tackles yesterday. That is less then any other team all weekend and i think all season has missed in a game.

Maybe they only count it if you put a hand on them.

We have outsmarted the system

Yep I'd guess you actually have to be in their vicinity to have missed the tackle.

I cannot understand how a performance like that first half is even possible on such an auspicious day by a professional first grader. It was an insult to the memory of Tommy. The players must hang their heads in shame. Other teams show up week in week out thats what they get paid to do. If a player is not prepared to give everything they have for 80 minutes then they should decline putting on the jersey & allow someone else to have a go. Sadly Brooks cannot lift when needed by the team. Enough is enough - hello I have said that for the past decade.

... And Smarts.

Footy smarts, we just don't have much of it in this squad. We have some talent, yes but not a lot of smarts. Even some of the players that seem to be pretty intelligent individuals make some very dumb decisions! Quite a few on show yesterday.

Momo has it and he was basically let go to keep BJ and JTJ - two players who are a long way off being smart. Which was a really dumb decision in itself!

Until we can get more smarts into this team in key positions and key roles, we'll keep shooting ourselves in the foot with dumb actions.

Was saying to my son before the game started, on an occasion like Sunday playing a struggling side it should have been all about a fast aggressive start to get the crowd into the game and put pressure on a fragile Cowboys team. That should have been the message as they left the sheds.

Unfortunately we did the exact opposite and allowed them to build a foothold in the game which they grew from.

Its utterly bewildering.

If you were a Dogs supporter you would have a glimmer of hope for the future. They had a dig and were out classed by possibly the best team on the weekend, and next year Burton and Carr arrive. On the other hand there is no glimmer for us. As well as our other grades are going, there is nobody who is ripe for selection. Okay maybe Simkins but that’s about it.

All the coaching in the world is not going to change a thing, we need two top notch play makers. Our cattle as a unit do not make the grade.

Hard to see us not wrapping up the spoon well and truly before the end of the season

Not so weird when you give up 4 tries to kicks. I don't think Tigers trigger a MT on The Hammer, when they went nowhere near him, Tuilagi scored twice off kicks around Nofo, Drinkwater did his little chip. I think the only legit missed tackle try was the crash-over from Condon, and I think arguably one tackle was missed/ineffective when Burr scored, even though that again was a spilled footy.

I don't know mate, Bulldogs are in a big old hole.

It's one thing if your players fail to have a dig, then have a dig an suddenly become highly competitive. At least, if you can get their heads right, the talent is there.

It's another thing entirely when your players try really hard and still get lapped. That's what Bulldogs have, a roster that just can't compete. Any yeah maybe some strong signings coming in 2022, but that in no way alleviates the question mark over the choice in coach nor the short-term big-money signings like Kyle Flanagan and Cotric.

I mean Dogs tried hard against Broncos too, the worst defence going around last 18 months, and couldn't manage a point, conceded 24.

"Looking forward to next year" has become a sad joke to Tigers fans.

Good news re wooden spoon is there are quite a few ordinary teams going around, plenty of opportunity to beat them and keep your head above 16th.

Are we talking about the same Leiluia, in my thinking he is the best forward we have in this squad (not that that would be difficult I suppose)- he plays long minutes too:astonished:

Yes we are. Brooks was covering for him yesterday, against the roosters the problems were caused by a lack of commitment from both him and his brother.

Maybe he is playing too many minutes, but his urgency in defence has been non-existent so far this year.
