Auckland Nines x 2

I understand the 9s is a completely different game, but if the Tigers finished second last in 2013, and a lot of people on here are saying they won’t do much better this year, why are we placed so high in the betting to win the Auckland 9s? Is it because of the speed we have, or are there other reasons for this favouritism? Manly and the Storm are near the bottom.
And if our speed is respected that highly by the competition, then it must be clear to the coaching staff this year, that the key to our season will be getting our defence in order and getting some mongrel on the field to open up the space for this speed. :sign:

I would of thought one of the reasons we will be given a big chance will be our attacking prowess We scored 3 of the best 5 tries of the season

The other reason is we need the money badly , we will pick a pretty strong squad whereas other clubs won't treat it as seriously

Manly and Storm base their game off a very tight defence. They won't have that option in the 9's as its all about attack and speed.

It is because we are a throw the ball around kind of team and so are the Warriors and that's why the media and Bookies think we will be great at this kind of game.

Potter himself has said he's not sure how the bookies have us pegged as second favourite, he doesn't even know what players he's taking yet. I wouldn't read too much into the figures.

I don't know if someone is pulling my chain , but is it true that now Johns is playing for Newcastle and Beaver playing for Manly ??
