Aussie kids in Syria

Everyone is assuming the parents are actually dead.

No evidence of that at all.

It all sounds very convenient to me.

sure u kid me, they have been there for over 2 years, i dont want them any where near my grandkids the vile that there parents and others around them, have pound into there heads make them dangerous to all in aust. i feel for all kids but i want aust to protect us 1st, any one going over there male , female kids should never come back here. all the do gooders will cry out to bring them back and what happens in 10 - 15 years when they want to avenage there father and mothers deaths, and they kill some one here, who will put there hand up.

I should have addressed this earlier, but would you put your hand up to leave and wash your hands of them, had your mentioned grandkids been taken over there BP?

Don't worry too much though, as others would do their best to get them back here and cared for appropriately.

HOLD THE PHONE THE GRANDMOTHER WAS THE ONE WHO HELPED her daughter get the kids overseas, they lied about where they were going, the grandmother should have been charged when is returned but our govt is weak as p**** .

I asked about you and your relatives BP, not what someone else may or may not have done, so what is your answer?

its not about me or my kids or grandkids, we are not mad jihads looking to kill everyone who does not do what they want, my family follow the law of the land so there is no answer required on our end. its funny how people want to change it around so we are the problem, these people want to kill all of us, we need to keep aust safe for all who want to do the right thing. people really need to wake up and smell the roses.

Thanks for all the second lot of additional information BP, now can you just answer the question?

You're trying to reframe the issue in a completely artificial way. Of course he would want his own children or grandchildren rescued but that would be his personal interest overriding what he sees as the public interest.

I don't think it's a topic that you're readily going to change people's minds on but if it's something you strongly believe in then good on you for doing something about it by lobbying your MP.

I think you have mistaken my intent Nelson, as I certainly don't expect to change people's minds, particularly those with entrenched views.

"Of course he would", to which I was simply pointing out the would be hypocrisy of self interest in his initial post, him having brought his grandchildren into it and having a shot at me for being a "do gooder" that had obviously put my "hand up" by starting the thread.

Absolutely 100% not.
These people are scum. If you support their re-entry you are as well.
They should live out their useless lives in the cesspit their worthless parents wanted for them.
FULL STOP!.

By the way if I wasn't totally clear I would like to add that I fought against this collection of human garbage and I am devastated that my fellow AustralIans have sympathy for this murderous trash and their devil spawn.

They should be strung up not given a leg up. If you knew what you were talking about you wouldnt be so soft. You would understand that your attitude endangers our lives. How about you shut up and stop dribbling about issues you have little knowledge about because your sentiments are dangerous and embarrassing.

strtjer. as I stated in my first post (about post 2) this is not a simple issue and Australia. through it's military and UN actions over a hundred years, has had direct input into the situation in Iraq and Syria, and Israel and Palestine. We continue to support Israeli genocide in Palestine - strictly speaking, our collective actions makes us are almost as terrible as you describe former guest.

Since Gough Whitlam was booted out Australia has been nothing expect cannon fodder and running dogs for US. Maybe that is why the USA wanted Gough booted out.

Shame on you former guest. I'm so furious at your posts I could vomit.

I hope that you did not get to that point, though I am certainly not surprised we disagree on these children's future, nor you being unable to maintain civil comment.

Given my line of work I will refrain from commenting on this issue but if this thread degenerates further, it will close.

Sometimes making decisions on morality in the comfort of our own lounge rooms is simplistic without any real understanding or knowledge about the complexity of actually resolving the issue. The reality is unless we really understand what is required to carry through a mission like this i.e. the risks to the children and those who are burdened with the responsibility of carrying it out, the monetary value of the operation with no guarantees of success and there are probably whole lot of other challenges that are way beyond my understanding. I get why the grandparents are lobbying I would be doing the same, but if it was my son/daughter who was assigned to go and get them not sure I could support that.
Lobbying the government to act on issues like these just gives a platform for those who are anti the government no matter what they do, to jump on the bandwagon. A terrible situation with no easy solution.

Are you in the department Willow?

My employment was mentioned on here last year. I won't go into it again but suffice to say it's not appropriate for me to voice my opinion on these matters as I do what government policy dictates.

I don't have any sympathy as such Stryker, I've just said that Australian laws are what they are, so don't be surprised if the Australian Government is obliged to help them out. I don't think they'll try very hard given the situation there. Can't exactly drop a chopper in the middle of Raqqa and pick them up without any resistance.

Let's remember this thread is about children who haven't made a conscious decision about anything…. Some seem to be forgetting that
