SJW's are lazy scum.

You don't know what you are talking about. It is only during breaks that I am not a highly active politicised person. I am just slowing down in my retirement, letting the next two generations take over.

Good for you. Keep the whinge going.

I even did a political demo at that repeated grand final about 1977 or 78, the cops had to escort me off the field, actually around the perimeter of the playing field - was pelted with beer cans, even full ones. Fun day that was. Mohammed was going to the mountain that day - ha ha

It seems a couple managed to hit you lol…
What was the whinge about that time?

With my minus zero reputation points it seemed they did not knock any sense into me.

I was in the anti-nuke movement and had just had Hiroshima Day march then the ruddy Chinese just let off a nuke bomb. If we did not do a demo against them also we would be called commos sympathisers or hypocrites etc.. Too buggered to organise another demo I conned my mate that instead we will go to where the crowds already are - the replay of that Grand Final, there was only one of them. We took a huge multi-coloured anti-nuke banner about 12 foot long and smart me kept my motor bike helmet on in case of fireworks. My mate never had one. Whenever a team scored some in the crowd would see their colours on the banner and say"beaudy mate" and pat us on the back without reading the banner. Then the opposing team and supporters would do the same. Well footie fans are not that dumb and eventually woke up to us. We were copping it everywhere with beer cans but not on MY head. Well the cops came and made us go onto the infield and out of the place, we were jeered all the way around the circle. The SCG I think it was. Cant'believe I paid for a Grand Final ticket and not even to watch the game. The demo was on TV news. So there you are.

Now on this footie site do I get a positive reputation point for that story. Even put Laurie Nichols in the shade, aye

BBF,in thoses days we could say your "stupidity knew no bounds"..didnt you expect to at least cop some backlash???…

of course, that's why I kept the crash helmet on. If I think something has to be done then I will do it. Same reason I have negative reputation points in this joint. We only live once so we have to enjoy it. Now be brave and foolish and get me out of negative points territory. I don't even know how to use them yet.

So you don't seem too upset that this is a massive slap in the face to Aboriginals who are the original inhabitants of the land

Many other countries have managed found a way to keep the original occupants somewhat happy

We said sorry …............

All I know is that we don't know how good we have it here.

I love this place and will do my utmost to keep it free of the crap that is floating around overseas.

Quite understandably but we were instrumental in creating crap for Palestine that has endured for 70 years with no sign of justice. The Palestinian issue has been and still is a major focusing point for terrorist recruitment. Australia repeatedly votes in the UN to keep the crap at the highest stink level.

Don't see what this has to do with Australia Day…

That was in context to the post quoted:

I was making the point that Australia strongly helped make crap for another people so it was a bit hypocritical or simplistic saying we don't want crap in our own country. It was Australia Day so it was looking at Australia in a full context.

Correct Happy old son…I couldn't give a pig's rear end. I have no time for those who only look backwards. Changing the date, changing the flag etc will only stop the whinging till the next social media campaign starts which by the way will be started by soft phalis whites who try to solve the world's problems so they can feel important.

Problem is many of these indigenous peoples can't look forward or struggle to see the future

You don't think we owe them something for the past ??

It is very unfair to state so they can feel important. I don't know what other people's motivations are but I was educated in the home and Catholic school on social justice issues. Some people, like myself, have sacrificed and worked a lot for our political beliefs and believing that we are generally improving the world. I would have loved to have had a simple selfish life like many people choose but those whom know better must stand up. Otherwise we would have a soft phalis like the rest of useless selfish people who only care about themselves and clan until it is too late and the poop hits the fan.

No I don't. My distant relo's were in chains mate and were not responsible. Their decedent's persevered and overcame massive hardships as did countless others. They along with the indigenous and just about every nationality on earth built this nation.

Yeah well whilst you've been worrying yourself sick about social issues on a large scale, I've been out in the real world doing my bit. It's not selfish to mostly care about those in your community, a lot of which are aboriginal/Torres straight btw…Im from Cairns.

I'm so sick of do gooders belting on about what a miserable place Australia is.

I think you are putting words in people's mouths by saying that Oz is a miserable place. We are saying that Oz could be better. I have campaigned on local and international issues, even ran in a few local govt elections so you should not knock multi-taskers. By defacto I led a demo in Townsville in `1971 for housing and jobs for Aborigines. I was involved in the Black Theatre in Redfern in 1976 thereabouts. If we do not also involve in international issues we will cop radio-active pollution from other countries bombs - France and England. We will be conscripted into wars that are none of our business. We will create international enemies for no good reason.

That's all well and good. Congrats top work.

However I'm not putting words in people's mouths it's even been said in this thread. They come out of the woodwork everytime this country wants to take a moment to celebrate. Whining hipster losers sipping lattes in suburban cities whilst tugging on their turtle necks and regurgitating some garbage they heard at a poetry festival.

These latte drinkers probably have never even p!ssed on a couch or played with dogs on Australia Day.
Most Australian's celebrated Australia Day in true Aussie fashion, a few drinks and a BBQ and will continue to so in the years that follow. However a lot feel better about it if it was on another date, rather than the 26th.

I don't get the verbal beat downs that get brought up every January, but talking about how Australia can be better doesn't hurt anyone. We're already one of the most stable and safest countries in the world to live in with a quality of life only second to Denmark or Norway (can't remember which one.) We're not perfect though and while we'll never be I'd like to see us get as close as we can.

Almost the only Australian sacredness I respect is the Ode in the RSL. Conscripted fighting guys whom had no choice sent off to terrible wars facing death with many not returning and those whom did with chronic nightmares and shattered nerves. I may not support and even demonstrated against our involvement in those conflicts but I cannot expect to everyone have same viewpoints as myself on every issue. But those participants were also partly responsible due to their non-involvement in the political process to prevent war through international justice. This is where Internationalism is necessary, so that the ramifications of all actions are scrutinised at all levels. If we don't take on the big picture we will be forever committed to conflicts that could involve nuke weapons - as well as constantly spending billions on defence that deprives us of other necessary services like health, shelter, education etc
