I totally agree that it's a Day to reflect on what a wonderful country we live in and just how lucky we are.
BUT….....
I think it's a total lack of respect to our Indigenous people, it's a bit like rubbing salt in the wounds.
It's a discussion we have had amongst the Family and friends over the years that changing the Date would be appropriate.
I had a discussion with an Indigenous mate of mine at work in regards with the Date thing a few years back and he said to me " how would you feel if Lets say you lost a loved one on Christmas Day for arguments sake in a Car accident, celebrating Xmas Day just wouldn't feel right anymore after such event right"? Made total sense to me and understand why indigenous people feel the way they do.
