Australia Day

Good one CK. Very interesting article. That also may explain why many of the local mob up here are so short. Consider me better informed.

I already had some knowledge of marked difference between tribes and regions, but where does the genocide bit come from?

the Aboriginal people / tribes in many cases don't believe they own the land as such …..so to say that they invaded Australia .......

From other stuff I have read there are historians who believe there was a significant race of pygmy people here prior to the Aboriginals arriving and they were wiped out (being the weaker race). From the article I posted there were obviously some still existed in remote areas.

If they don't think they own it then why fight the Government to give it back to them.. and reap the financial rewards?

there weren't any battles over land between tribes and when they did fight it was rarely to the death

The land was there to use …..not to own

We took their right to use the land ...and in many cases much like the American Indians we gave them land we didn't want or saw little use in

And if we later found we could use it we drove them off that land as well

Your drawing a long bow CK , the Aboriginals were treated extremely badly and in some cases still are

Read the Eddie Gilbert story ........ it isn't nice and he was treated horribly

I can understand the article posted by CK as having three races of people coming to Australia in separate stages, and each displacing the former to some extent. Displacing in this context probably includes both assimilation and extermination.
