Yeah and such a crap player, according to our fans, but good on him. Congrats Woodsy

Merrin has been terrible in a struggling team so far this year, but like so many others before, his game will lift amongst the elite players. I reckon DeBelin or Vaughan must be close tho - perhaps they'll get a go in Origin.

What a rubbish team.
How do they exclude Slater??? He is fit and is also in great form.
Merrin is a joke, he doesn't even think he deserves to be in consideration for origin, let alone test. What about J Trbojevic or JDB at lock. Or even Klemmer at lock.
Where's Fifita???
I think morgan is being outclassed by John Asiata in the halves at North Queensland. I think Jack Bird should be our utility as he covers more positions.
Surely they could've found room for Graham but Cordner & Gillet is still a great back-row
Dugan and Ferguson are garbage. Surely they should've had Slater at fullback and Boyd or T Trbojevic on the wing. How is Dugan picked at centre? They should've picked Leilua. This team is an absolute joke and I am fuming over the stupidity shown by the selectors.

This would be my team:

1\. Slater
2\. Trbojevic/Boyd/Nofoaluma/Holmes
3\. Leilua
4\. Croker/Chambers
5\. Trbojevic/Boyd/Nofoaluma/Holmes
6\. Thurston
7\. Cronk
8\. Fifita
9\. Smith
10\. Vaughan
11\. Cordner
12\. Gillet
13\. Trbojevic/JDB

14\. Jack Bird
15\. Woods/McGuire/Junior Paulo/Boyd/Klemmer
16\. Woods/McGuire/Junior Paulo/Boyd/Klemmer
17\. Papalii/Hess/Graham/Frizell/Klemmer

Mal came out and admitted picking Merrin when he wasnt going great this season
He also mentioned he will play better with a good solid bunch,i was in shock he chose his words loosely

Merrin was one of the best performers last year in the Kangaroos Squad, so he was always going to be there.

Slater has been told he has to wait, as once again Boyd was sensational in both SOO & Tests last year.

Good Squad that should account for the Kiwis.

Mal's repeated pretty often that they've only got 5 days to prepare, so he'd stick with the Four Nations squad, which is fair enough I think. Likely to see more changes at the end of the year, where hopefully players like Vaughan will get a chance and Dugan and Ferguson will be long gone.
That said, I rate Merrin, he's a more complete Fifita.
