Ava has probably been our 2nd best prop this year. Consistently makes a lot of metres, per hit up and in every match. He's largely our performed Galloway, and definitely out performed Gavet. Lineball with Taupau
The thing with Taupau and Gavet is they're big impact players. Very noticeable when on the field. They do one or two things which really grab your attention (if their hair doesn't) but then often have stretches where they do nothing. Ava's stats are much better than theirs. Hhe just goes about his business in a low key, understated manner.
I can guarantee that if Ava (and Sue for that matter) had a giant affro you'd all be calling them to be picked for New Zealand. Ava isn't that flashy player, he's more like a Petero type who just gets the job done. And he's young and improving still…
