Ayshford to lock?

he might be a bit slow for the backs especially with the added bulk he willl no doubt gain by next season. He'd probabbly be smashed at lock, but if he were to move to the fowards I'd have him as a wide running second rower. But I'd probably prefer him in the centres
 
I would be very dissapointed if the Fonz moves him to lock this early in his career. He was devasting in the centres and the only issue is he is a bit of a hog, but besides that, he was outstanding.

Anything but logic could happen with this regime.
 
The fact that he has yet to have a off season is a big advantage at this stage.

A decision could be made to play him anywhere from lock to wing and his training can be geared towards it.

He is a real talent and that is what is important at this stage
 
Its possible or maybe even probable…

He does have some obvious natural strength to him & an offseason spent in the gym will do him the world of good...

But i'd also like to see him go through the sprint training that Moltz did last offseason & kept at the centre, unless they jag Lote... 😱pen_mouth:

Even if Tuquiri is signed, he can play fullback, Moltzen can go to the halves and Ayshford can stay at centre.

I don't like the tendency in rugby league to try and turn every big, fast, 100kg centre into a 5/8 or second rower. There's no reason Lawrence and Ayshford can't become as good a centre pairing as Cooper and Gasnier were at the Dragons.
 
Wasn't Ayshford possibly moving to the forwards in the future mentioned before he played first grade? If so, I'm sure they'll leave him in the backs as long as he keeps performing well there.

Tuiaki was going to move to the forwards, but he did so well on the wing he was left there. I can see the same thing happening with Ayshford.

And I must say I've been impressed with him on the wing in the last few games, I thought he would be too slow there but he has done well IMO.

I agree, Ayshford looks to me to be a genuine rep footballer in the making. He just seems to handle everything with ease. I believe he and Moltzen will be big name players in 3 or 4 years time (no pressure of course :wink: )
 
what we need to do with ayshford in the off season is juice him up so he is nice n huge and teach him how to set up his winger and leave him in the centers. the more we stuff around with the team line-up the more we will keep repeating our self in sept 2010 when we just miss out again because of continuous chopping and changing to the team. iv had enough of experimenting. if we have not found a proper combination by now then we never will.
 
Ayshford's too valuable @ centre. i luv him there.
I reckon, if any centre's gonna play at lock it will be tame tupou, he's more built than ayshford.
 
I hope we keep Ayshford in the centres. He was only moved to the wing because our wingers were injured.
 
Ayshford will do just fine..

He hasnt stopped growing and started to really fill out yet, He is still comparritivly very young as is almost the entire team.

Where was that team list that contained the ages….
 
At this stage, i don't think lock is his best position, nor is he needed there. Centre is a much better fit for the team. Which is what everyone should be thinking about. Not what is in the best interest of the individual. Sure he has natural strength and will fill out nicely, but in the modern game that is just as handy out wide, especially with ayshfords deceptive speed and slight of hand. Ayshford and Lawrence will prove to be the best centre pairing in the comp.
 
I cannot understand the talk about moving Ayshford to lock. Haven't we got enough back-rowers in the club to cover this positiuon next year and well into the future?
Ayshford and Lawrence will prove to be the best centre pairing in the NRL from next year forward!

I couldnt agree more. Why do we want every tall strong back to become a lock when tall strong centres have become the norm.

Should Folou be a lock? Hodges? Inglis? No!!! Let me dominate in the centres…...and leave Ayshford there to smash them into touch.
 
Ayshford found the ability to beat a man towards the end of the year.I'd definitely be keeping him in the 3\. jersey.If we do get Lote we would have possibly the biggest back-line in the comp.
 
Its all about getting the best balance. Their are so many options for the backline, so maybe to squeeze everyone into the backline they may give him a go at lock. The possibilities are endless Moltzen to centre, tamarta (excuse the spelling) to 7 and maybe Lotte,Ryan,Lazarus or Mallaney to no1 and Blake to the back of the scrum. I dont think it will happen, but for once we have plenty of options and especially in key postions
 
Where ever hey plays i think the tigers are lucky to have him!!!

We should also thank the roosters who after signing O Meley and Mason had to get rid of a stack of juniors, Ayshford being one of them!!! I just hope that we don't have to do the same if we snare lote and lima!!

Lawrence will turn out to be a very good centre and it may be next year. Why would you even contemplate taking him away from there?

Lawrence and Ayshford will develop into a very good centre combination and maybe next year they will show it. Why would you even contemplate splitting this pair?
