The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs today confirmed the signing of Australian and New South Wales representative, Brett Morris, on a four year contract, through until the end of 2018.
>
Morris, 28, will arrive at the Bulldogs for season 2015 and will join his new team mates when pre-season commences at the back end of November.
>
The Kiama Knights junior made his NRL debut for the St George Illawarra Dragons in Round 9 of season 2006 and has since gone on to play 169 matches, scoring 112 tries as well as making 10 appearances in the sky blue for New South Wales and has played 18 Tests for Australia.
>
Chief Executive Raelene Castle is excited about the arrival of Morris.
>
“It’s a significant signing for the club,” Castle said. “To be able to get a player of Brett’s calibre and profile is exciting. We look forward to him joining the squad in preparation for the 2015 season.”
>
Coach Des Hasler is pleased to see Morris join the blue and white.
>
“Brett is an experienced player that has played at the highest level and we are keen to get him into our set-up and be part of our squad for next season and beyond,” Hasler said.
>
Current Bulldogs player and twin brother of Brett, Josh, is over the moon that he will be able to play with his brother on a more regular basis once again.
>
“We obviously played footy together since we were six and although I chose a different path back 2009 when I decided to come to the Bulldogs, it is great that we will be able to go out there together every week and do what we love,” Josh said. “He is a great player and I believe he will fit into the culture we have here at Belmore very easily.”

They're about 600K over the cap for next yr, i don't think they're signing anybody.

They just signed Jake Marketo….

Don't mind the Morris twins..
shame they are associated with the Bullgrubs, let's hope their talent and ability standout and don't get into the grubbiness the Dogs are renowned for….. 😱pen_mouth:

I like the twins. Nice boys and talented too. Very good signing for the bulldogs. I wonder how they could afford him, as well as all the other stars they have in their team. Something smells fishy around Belmore. ( And no, it's not you Happy. )

Not sure if they have many stars? They got hodkinson on the cheap a few years ago, Reynolds, lafai, Thompson, Jackson, Klemmer all debuted with the dogs. Pritchard wouldn't have costed much 3 years ago.

JMo, Williams and graham must be on big coin though.

so lets get this straight.
st.george have salary cap problems with their no names but yet bulldogs with their star studded line up can afford him.
yeh ok - we are supposed to buy this???? :wtf

AHX,I deadset don't understand the salary cap in its true form..
Storm have breached it and Dogs as well in the past..
I thought we had someone in each club that made sure that they stay under the cap,I also thought we had a salary cap auditor..

It seems some clubs don't get AUDITORED..and others always do..

If everything was fair and equal in the NRL, the smart operators wouldn't be allowed to move the decimal point, Hobbo. Or if they did, they would be found out and punished, but alas no :frowning:

I don't think anyone understands the salary cap in its true form, TT - it's like trying to understand financial operations that are founded upon the logic of Monty Python!

Thanks Flip, but you would think that there was a format to follow, with boundaries and limitations..I presume there is,but some can manipulate the system…and obviously do... 😱pen_mouth: 😱pen_mouth:

If you can cheat the tax man you can cheat the salary cap. And it's usually the rich clubs that do it. Go figure.

TPA need to limited to a percentage of someone's contract to keep it fairer. Clubs like easy a and Brisbane have always had a unfair advantage due to the number of sponsors they can get to endorse third party deals.

They could have a team worth of 8 mil, because around 2 mil would be outside of the cap in TPA.

Whilst cronulla would struggle to fill their cap, and would have no where near as much TPA.

So technically you would have teams plying each other that could be a few million dollars of playing talent apart.

TPA are not allowed to be associated to the club, but majority of them are. And that's why it becomes unmanageable, and unfair.

No use whinging about it , we just need to take the dogs lead

First we need to breed the stars…
That's hopefully begun...
Then we need the juniors to flog a few petrie dishes from science class so we can clone their twins....
