Bloody scary isn’t it….it really is signature Madge Defence now,, backpedal m give them time, and do not put them on the ground, EVER!
I don’t what all the fuss with tuki simpkins is he is rubbish .
Brooks looked ok getting the ball abit wider but options were terrible at times . Tuilagi and gildart never got quality ball . Liddle is not the answer he was garbage . Big teams will flog us poor stefano surely must be thinking why he choose to re-sign no help in the middle . We got bashed

Every year they say they have been working on defensive structures and every year they they passively wait for the attackers to hit the advantage line and try to use a sliding defence on the goal line.
It always feels like opposition teams get the ball up field quicker against us , compared to when watching other teams.
We are not classy.
Even if you threw Laurie ( guy doesn't care about the team at all ) and Hastings ( appears to care at least) I don't think we win that game tonight.
It's going to be a long year and our main issues still remain.

The only reason we lost tonight is because we had opposition, even if we played against ourselves we wouldn't know how to win.

Why would you have thought this? What was do different about this off season and this playing group? Its ingrained into the club.

I personally prefer the up and in defensive structure as it at least jams the attacking team up quicker to pull the trigger or take the tackle. And imo if the other team scores, at least most the time it’s Darius Boyd esque in the corner, hence a harder goal-kick.
Nofoaluma clearly has fallen into this ‘up and in’ approach over the years but if the team hasn’t agreed on that structure he needs to change habits because the winger shouldn’t be inside his centre as much as he is in defence, if ever really…
The one with Pauga down was just unlucky though and can’t blame him to rush in on that one when they otherwise score further infield.

I was just about to write the same thing. This must be something Madge teaches as it is rife right across the players in the 2nd half and Madden was the worst. Looks like he is scared to tackle.
I am pretty sure you move up in defense not backwards. In all my years of playing and coaching, not once has this been taught to defend running backwards or having my wingers come infield to help my center tackle.
Wingers should be spaced near enough to the center and then use the sideline as an extra defender. Nofo just decides way to early to come in every time to make a tackle when he just needs to hold his space and move up towards his winger, forcing the ball player to make a decision on pass or run while also giving his inside men time to shut down any space inside or the ball player. Too many times the inside men drop off which means they are lazy and also bad coaching.
Madge is going to fast lose his job if this is how he wants us to play.
