speaking of junior league, a ridiculous decision has been made in the Penrith JRL that each club can only enter 1 side per age group fro sunday football (u/15 to A grade) goign to turn away something like 20 odd teams. crazy stuff.

It's an issue that seems to have been raging out in Parramatta and Penrith for years. The problem (as I understand it) is the big teams like St Marys (for example) are recruiting players from other junior clubs and basically fielding 2 strong teams when the smaller teams can't field one. I'm not convinced this is the best way to go about it.

That is one of the issues, St Mary's have unlimited money and are actively recruiting players in older age groups.
Some clubs with big numbers, like St Clair, Lower Blue mountains and alike have 2 and 3 sides in 15's and 16's that have played there whole lives at the club, I know St Clair in some age groups had as many as 7 teams, so stands to reason they will have more than 1 team by by sunday footy, players will literally be turned away, horrible solution.

7 teams in an age group above U/15s? That's huge. I guess they don't want a 1st division comp in U/16s that consists of St Marys 4 teams, St Clairs 4 teams and LBM 2 teams. Surely there are other teams close enough to St Clair for them to go to? Anyway as I said I'm not convinced it is the best solution. A better idea would be to limit the amount of player swaps so smaller clubs don't lose their best players after they hit 14/15 and get poached.

Pretty sure most districts have something like this already in place, I know Balmain do…I think its no more than 2 players from one team can transfer to another club in one season - prevents stacking
