I remember getting the Most Improved Forward Award from Len Killeen and Peter Provan at Lane Cove National Park where we (Ryde RSL) had our Season Ending Party. I was 10.They stayed for probably two hours on a Sunday Afternoon. I'm sure they had better things to do, but they turned up. Different times. For the record ,I only got the award because my best friend's Dad was the Coach.....

Oddly enough Lane Cove is North Sydney juniors territory.

I remember playing against North Ryde (near Lane Cove National Park) in the Balmain comp. I had mates that played for Lane Cove in the North Sydney comp.

Not really odd. Its where everybody had their picnics on the weekend.

Great name you've got there Mr Hal Browne. Not a bad Winger or Centre in the mid to late 60's. His handling could be suspect on occasions, but he was fast.

Just looking at some old Balmain stats.
Biggest win 62-4 v Wests @ Pratten Park 1944
Biggest loss 62-5 v Wests @ Lidcombe Oval 1974.
That just about sums up the joint venture.

Ah yes Kent Road Oval. In my time it had grass in the Summer and a Desert in the Winter.

That was later called ELS Hall played soccer for Marsfield home ground was on the lower oval.

Think it's a hockey ground now.
