Barba has asked to be released

What sort of man lets his wife decide whats going on for him & his kids when he is the main breadwinner?
Sounds to me like she doesnt give a rats about him….unless of course the entire story is all BS...couldnt be?

Happy, Brown didn't ask for a release from what i can remember. As for the others, they asked most probably because they knew their futures here weren't looking too bright. I think thats a little different to asking for a release cos you just don't wanna be here for whatever reason.

Is it just me, or does this happen to Canterbury an awful lot?

I would think Canberra cops it more than most other teams.

Canberra seems to be rather adept at breeding tossers  They play up so badly that the club has no other choice but to release them and then, of course, they all go on to be great players at different clubs - that would irritate me no end.

With the Bulldogs, besides the ones mentioned I think Mason was also released and maybe even JT early on?

He emphasized it was his ex-wife so I'm guessing he's doing it for the benefit of the kids if his grounds for leaving are true

I didnt watch all of "Sterlo" last night, missed the interview…am i right that he said he'd like to go to the broncos while sitting there in a dogs shirt?

I doubt it ,marquee players don't do that sort of thing ,do they ??

Ah the precedent has been set!

You just can't trust having bloody Queensland aliens in your team - they're always bleating about wanting to go home, just like ET  So glad WT don't have any in the ranks at the moment cause they'd also be off like a shot at the first chance. Look at Lui, he reckoned all his troubles were because he needed to go home to Qld :unamused:

Seem to recall that he was gambling, drinking and shacked up with another, so probably a bit unfair to her.

If his ex moves the kids to QLD then he really has no choice but to follow in order to be in his kids lives, it happens all the time. Disgruntled ex's use the kids as a bargaining tool to string the bloke along like a puppy and get their own way.

Hopefully she wants to move to balmain, but seriously if he signs contract with broncos for say 3 years, what happens if she moves with the kids again to another state ??

Then I would say that he would look to get out of his Broncos contract (unless the Broncos write a special "no get out" clause into his contract) and follow his kids to wherever in the world they go. Your career is only fleeting but your kids are your passion and priority for a lifetime.
Kids are the most effective bargaining tool there is unfortunately.

Then again there was that rumour floating around early on this season about Barba wanting to join the Broncos so maybe he is paying his ex top dollar to relocate to Brisbane so that he has a valid excuse for wanting out of his Bulldogs contract?

I'd drink heaps too if I lived at Canberra

Really? Don't you think that sounds a bit sexist? As anyone with kids knows, its all about the kids, its always about the kids and if moving to QLD is putting the best foot forward for the sake of the kids…. IMO no money could compare to what's best for the kids!!

Mrs Castle was amazing for Netball NZ and is a woman who will do wonders for not only the Bulldogs but Rugby League in general, and I'm sure she wouldn't allow this release if she didn't believe the Dogs could continue on successfully without the services of Barba!

I'm sure the club will move on swiftly and even if it was a rookie to replace Barba, with the punch the Doggies forward pack put out, I'm sure any rookie could excel running off the likes of Kasiano, Pritchard and Co.
