Bashed, battered and bruised

That is what the team can expect going up against Manly this week.

Manly have a big, aggressive, physical pack who try to intimidate the opposition throughout the game with big hits, hold-downs, niggling tactics and constant pressure. They will go hard, particularly in the first 20 minutes. If they dominate here, they get a roll-on and win the game.

For Wests to be a chance, we need to stand arm to arm, toe to toe. Show them we wont be out muscled, act as one, back each other up, encourage each other and smash the opposition just as hard.

Boys - are you willing to stand up and fight for each other for 80 minutes? If so, we can beat those dirty, cheating scum-sucking Manly a-holes, and prove we still have a chance to win this comp.

As I said in another thread Tommy, WTs should bung on a stink in the first scrum that would put Manly off they wouldn't expect that from us!! but seriously, Manly might be a bit battered themselves after playing the Penrith pack last week.

Hopefully the quick turnaround for Manly and the big defensive effort against Penrith will take a toll on them. Would like to see Ellis put a big shot on Watmough and show him who is boss.

This is why I'd like to see man-child Matty Groat get a run. At 117kg he'd be near on the biggest bloke on the field, and he'd know it. He showed remarkable composure against the Cowboys, despite them missing Scott.

My only worry is that we are going to put up a featherwight pack of forwards, who would battle to bash, batter and bruise the Penrith pack, who ran second to Manly last week.

Would love to see Matty Groat in the mix …....... I'm confident our pack can match it with their pack ........ its not a bad idea to put on a stink early in the match ........ let 'em know where here to play as well.

I hate Manly, always have since the Fibro Days…....

Tommy's right, we really need to stand up and dish out some physical stuff.
Aggresive defence and run hard with the ball....we need the forwards to really monster them.

Ahhhh......just like the old days.

Wouldn't that be great ….... to have an old style Wests/Manly match !!!
I reckon we could more than accomodate them too.

Manly have a lot more than a really good pack of forwards to worry about, excellent halves, excellent no1 and really strong and experienced centre combo. I just want someone to tell me how we are going to make enough yards in our defensive hit ups to get a decent kick in??? They will be coming at us from short range all night and we all know how we defend our line

I loathe the club, but I really admire the way they attack in defense, its brutal and incessant, its inspiring & it doesnt stop ….more often than not the team with the ball are forced into an error and then players are left standing around with blank looks on their faces as if to say ''what the hell was that?"

yep…seen them do it time and again. Their kick chases are ferocious as well so Moltz better have his game face on or they'll make him look silly. Good matchup in the centers...they'll be going at each other all night.

I'm gonna try and get there...could be a classic ala raiders/dragons if we turn up.

I would never question a NRL players toughness but if there was a stink, we would be in serious trouble

I don't know about that, a knock on the chin might bring out the agro in some of our blokes.

Really admire them do you Ink ?!?!?!
You've either mellowed or become too nice !!!

"Really admire" and "Manly" will never go together in any context.

Not about being nice, its about being realistic.
Its like these "who's the biggest grub in the game" threads.
Most ARE grubs….but theyre also terrific players.
