Beau/Moltzen???

I thought Beau looked bloody great last week at full back. Beyond all his great defensive work, he also hit it up well in attack, and was also hovering around the ruck a lot on attack waiting for his chances.

If Moltzen is fit, do you put him straight back in there? Or do you keep Beau there and put Moltz into the centres where he played for a bunch of games last year?

I personally would like to see Beau play a few more games there…

I would have Ryan at the back again, but I think for the balance of the side Moltzen will stay there with Ryan at centre so Ayshford/Reddy can come off the bench and fill in the backrow if needed.

What about Iosefa? Will he get a spot to cover Farah if needed? I'm thinking we may see a bench of:
BMM
Bell
Ayshford/Reddy
Iosefa/Humble

we have such an abundance of backs at the moment!

Beau is a gun at the moment and should stay fullback

Utai is a little machine on the wing

Reddy was so good when we were playing pretty bad and should be given a run again

Tuqiri and lawrence are doing enough good to hold their spots

Humble is a great utility on the bench

Left Overs IMO
IMO Ayshford is still off the mark

Moltzen has never looked that comfortable at full back maybe push him in to the centres

I dont think we need Iosefa on the bench to cover farah if we have humble.

i'm ok with Moltzen going staright back in at FB - his form has improved dramatically over the early season dribble he was dishing up - his defense and ability under the high ball have been much better lately and he is a better attacking option than Beau at the back and i would like to see him locked in for the remainder of the season.

Have u been watching Beau in the centres he finishes and creates so much more, just a waste havign him catch bombs.

It wasn't just a matter of catching the bombs, he did it with a real sense of urgency and bravery, something that Moltz lacks. We need a fullback like that. Having a solid full-back is more important than having a good centre. I still have faith that Ayshford will return to form, but until then I'd play Tim in the centres and Beau at FB

Moltzen straight in for sure, our lack of pace when finishing was glaringly obvious against the Storm, the modern day Fullback is pretty much a 2nd 5/8, look at the structures of the teams who have won premierships in the last 6 or 7 years. If your so concerned with Moltzens ability under the high ball then have Beau defend at fullback

Beau is better at taking bombs but Moltzen is much better in attack as a fullback. Beau as a centre is awesome in attack, especially his grubber (he's got the best grubber in the team imo)

Sorry Max but Moltzen is pretty bad defensively in the centres Prefer him at fullback if he is in the side

Anasta is going to test him though

Really test him

Dont know if anyone saw the press conference after the Storm game. Sheens was asked why he chose to move Beau to fullback instead of just brining Reddy in or maybe moving Humble there. He said it was because Beau is the best and safest in the club under the high ball and knew he'd run it back from the kick with some intensity, both which were going to be needed in the wet conditions.

we'll see how it goes this weekend.. looks like pending fitness that Moltzen will slot back in…

I think Moltz probably deserves to stay considering we've won 6 in a row with him in there (and one without him) but if anything at least we know we have a solid back up in Beau should Moltz go down.

If Sheens truly believes this, than it further baffles me as to why he has persisted with Moltz at fullback for so long.

Beau has been fantastic, Moltzen doesn't seem to have confidence, and Iosefa is doing a great job

I agree Stryker. In your modern day fullback, you want them to be strong in three areas:

1\. Good under the high ball
2\. Return the ball with some pace and strength
3\. Be an extra ball player/support player

Beau has Moltzen easily covered in the first two. We haven't used Moltzen much as a ball player this year, he's been much more of a support runner, which I think Beau could do and excel at it.

Our great run at the back end of last year was with Moltz at fullback, once he was settled in the position, this year, same again, once he has found his feet at fullback we have won 7 in a row.
The more I think about it, the more I think we need Moltz to play fullback. Beau has been great at centre and wing, killing it, no need to move him, he is contributing fantastically well already.

it ain't broke dont fix it…. we have won 7 in a row with moltz playing at the back 6 times.... leave it its working fine!!

It's a good point. We also lose Beau's strike power out wide which has been the difference in more than one match so far this year

makes sense to me.

given the conditions in Melbourne last week, the fullback was hardly going to be used as a second 5/8 or need to come up with some creative plays. his job was going to be to run hard straight lines with the ball, and be safe on kick returns.
