Beau Ryan love hate

Hello i just want to ask a question for this froum how can so many people go from thnking i guy carnt play first to thinking he can …so many people was thinking Beau Ryan was very very bad to think he is now good
No matter what any one says Tim Sheens can see talent in players and can see future first grade players and that is what he saw in Beau Ryan ...like in Tim Moltzen Tim Sheens saw the talent and picked him in first i remember the first game Moltzen played and on the raido Warren Ryan said Moltzen can play

Its just hard to understand how people can change so fast to bring down people ..... then build them up turn coats

i'll admit it - i didn't rate beau ryan in his previous position - but currently where he is playing i'm fine with, it suits him a hell of a lot better - so whilst Sheens might be able to see talent, at times his positional choices leave a lot to be desired and in a young player could have a potentially detrimental effect if week after week they are copping a flogging.

Simple…he is showing a lot more at fullback.

+2 Running straight has been a massive change

I think it's also a case of Ryan being able to get more involved at fullback compared to wing. He certainly helps the Tigers get on the front foot by running straight rather than sideways though.

He copped way too much criticism when on the wing.

You could see he had a bit of go about him.

I am not so sure about that. There was definitely a stage that he was just not playing well enough to be in first grade, too much running sideways, not enough metre eating.

He was playing much better at the back end of last year on the wing, and is playing some great footy at the moment. There will be no complaints from me if he remains fullback for the rest of the season.

I'm not too proud to say I'm one of those converted by his move to fullback this year.

Can't agree more with this statement. Look at Moltzen last season. Was brilliant at half back but Sheens had him playing fullback too much.

Don't think so. Mind you Ayshford is known to hog the ball a little bit, rarely passes to his winger - he has scored 3 or 4 himself this year. Pretty sure Mitch Brown came up with a try assist though.

He always looked good enough to me.

I put the hate down to some nuffies whose cousins mate played on the wing for BRET/Maggies and they wanted to push insert name here's barrow.

My dislike came from exactly the same moment in time I realised Moltzen was not a fullbacks left teste.

Cowboys game in Townsville 2009

The change from the player who allowed such a easy try to be scored by not putting his body in the line to the guy we saw as the last line of defence at the SFS this past Friday night.

The turnaround mirrors my change of view of Beaus game. Perhaps it was always there and I din't see it

spot on Sam…Beau Ryan is excelling playing Fullback!...As a left hand side winger thought he was average...maybe because he played on the LH side?? But as a fullback his D is great and he runs the ball back with gusto!...I reckon he should be our permanent fullback....and with Tuiaki looking like being out for the year...that's where he'll be.

I also didn't rate him on the wing , but at fullback has been having a greater impact imy only complaint is dummy half running he does to much of it .

I don't think he adds anything to a wing position and still don't… fullback has brought out the best in him and shown he actually has a very effective running game back there...

Hear hear!
First 2/3rds of last season he was rubbish with the above mentioned 'effort' being the standout low. Other than that slow, regularly out of position/ lacked anticipation, hands weren;t crash hot.
Last 1/3rd he was passable.
1st couple of games this season at winger he was solid.

At fullback however he is a completely different player. He's really pushing himself to do the hard things, take tough runs & put everything into last line tackles.
He seems to love involvement and with the amount of times a modern fullback touches the ball that suits him perfectly and has bought the best out of him. His very high fitness levels also help there because he can go hard all game.
2009 Beau - waste of space. Fullback Beau - Love him!
