**HULL KR: Galea disappointed over lack of offer**

HULL KR's Ben Galea admits he has been disappointed not to have been offered a new deal by Rovers. The 31-year-old had hoped to have agreed an extension to his deal at Craven Park, as his present contract expires at the end of the 2010\. But despite an impressive season for the Robins in 2009, Galea admits this may be his last campaign at the club. "I'm disappointed not to have been offered a new deal," Galea told the Mail.
>
"I've given 100 per cent the last two seasons and was player of the year two seasons ago. "If I don't get a new deal at Rovers I'll look around for another club in England and Australia.
>
Galea is one of a host of big-name players at the club entering the last year of their deals. And with the club losing an average of £450,000 a season so far, it may provide KR with an opportunity to cut spending and reduce costs.
Despite the disappointment, Galea says he has returned to pre-season training determined to prove he still has plenty to offer. "I still have the hunger to play at this level, it's what I love doing," he said. "My body feels great but maybe the club has other plans. I don't want to retire just yet but I'll keep my options open."
>
Galea joined Rovers from Wests Tigers ahead of the 2008 season. The NRL Grand Final winner made an immediate impact and won both player of the year awards at the end of the season. Last season he was tipped as an early contender to win the Man of Steel award scoring eight tries in the first 12 Super League games.
>
He was also one of four Rovers players to be named in Super League's Dream Team along with fellow second rower Clint Newton. Galea played every league game for the Robins last season.

Far out Sheens brings back Fitzhenry…......Ben has to be a moral........

probably the most under rated player in rugby league of the last 10 years

should have won the clive churchill medal

if he played for the dragons/roosters/eels he would have played origin for sure

Ill always remember his fend against the warriors a few years back AMAZING!

That was a cracker. I think Tony Martin may have been on the end of that fend. Galea will be 32 when he returns to Australia so I think he'll be long odds to pick up an NRL contract. He was a great clubman for the Tigers though.

YES! If it is the one I am thinking of, the Warriors guy basically ended up on his head.

Fantastic player Ben Galea was, and maybe still is - haven't seen him since he left the tigers.

Well in his first year with Hull KR …....he won the Player of the Year Award........last year he was named in the ESL Team of the Year.....so in other words he's killing it.......

Skando was 34 and he gave great value last year......

Ive always been a big fan of BG.

Great left foot step and palm.

I'll always remember his tackle on Bowen in the gf.

yep me too. that was a very important tackle. if bowen scored then, the whole game could have ended up different. if we bring him back he would probably be best at lock. cant fit both him and fulton in though.

Galea would be better than Heighington imo who is better than Payten.

11\. Ellis
12\. Heighington
13\. Galea

Pretty good imo.

I was a huge supporter of Ben Galea when he was with us but times have moved on,i honestly cant see how he would help the club for next year.We dont NEED another back rower but as sure as hell we NEED another PROP and that is a position he cant fill.He would be a far better buy than Fitzuseless but not one we need.

Flanagan will fill that spot,he will go alright once he finds his feet.

if we get him its gonna move back either shirnack, moors, or mataka most likely.
great player though. sign him for 2 years then retire him

First of all i want to say im dead set against signing Galea.

But, i have to say he was good. I reckon if he had a big pack in front of him, he would have been a real star. He did great as a small guy in a small pack regularly being dominated, imagine if he was on the back of a dominant pack.
