Have to agree that it was shameful television.
I think that Stynes was just trying to be funny (without knowing much about BRS) and put her foot in it because she's not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Negus , on the other hand , should have shown the benefit of his experience and shut the conversation down immediately.
His problem is that he's trying to look relevant on a station with a young demographic and thinking it's cool to mock people.
Message to George- you're not a comedian!
 
Channel Ten had the pair on the 7pm Project show with the host puppets doing their best to play down the entire incident. i used to watch the 7pm project but not any more.. Good on yar Balmain Bug you nailed it with your post. hang your head STYNES and NEGUS sorry isn't enough this time..
 
OMG, couldn't believe what I was hearing when this surfaced yesterday! My husband and I freaking love BRS, forget about your sporting heroes, this guy is an absolute true and genuine hero! Every time I see him on TV, he just makes me so proud to be an Aussie. You are so lucky to have met him, Stryker.

Those two idiots on The Circle should be ashamed of themselves, they're a disgrace!

Bit of an over-reaction with your name calling there, Bug. These people were trying to be funny on national TV and they made a mistake - they know it, they've apologised, Ben's accepted it, let's move on. It's not the first time someone in the media has made stupid, derogatory remarks about a decent person for no apparent reason and it won't be the last. Sandilands and Newman come to mind as being serial offenders.
 
Ive never liked Negus and his smug attitude. This just confirms for me what a pathetic worm he is.
As for Yumi Stynes, who really cares what she says, never even heard of her before.

Id like to see Corporal Benjamin Roberts-Smith go at it with George Negus in a ring. Entertainment right there.

Bug i don't believe this but i totally agree with you Negus has been in that many war torn countries and in combat conditions you would think he would have some respect for our elite soldiers As far as I am concerned Negus you are no longer a Qlder scumbag

Don't know who the mattressback is but she needs to learn to shut her mouth and show some respect No doubt she would be one of the first up screaming and yelling if Australia ever got invaded for some help

As predicted, Corporal Roberts-Smith conducted himself with total decorum. Showed the same tact and cool-headedness that most likely earned him his distinctions.
 
Yeah he did mate. The fact he had to do it at all though was extrmely dissapointing. I was embarassed that this man who has put his life on the line many many times now over a long time in some aweful war zones was reduced to a punchline by these idiots.

The appologies to him were as weak as water - especially from Negus who refused to acknowledge his ignorance. no appologies were afforded the SAS regiment or indeed the ADF or parents of IVF children. I think channel 10 has also been extremely weak in this matter as they tried to make light of the matter.

All in all Its great to see the outrage as it shows those who are fighting and those who are left behind because of it that this country appreciates their sacrifices.

I think that both the soldier, and the ADF, have both handled it fairly well. A song and dance and subsequent forced apology could have been made, but the fact that public outrage alone has forced an apology shows how sincere the general public's admiration is for the likes of Corporal Roberts-Smith and his comrades.

I would like a considerable donation to be made to the war widows fund by channel ten to show they are serious about our armed forces efforts. Then they will find out exactly how expensive a few "cheap" shots can be.

That was outrageous mate. The media portrayed her as giving a tearful appology when in actuality she was crying because she announced that she was engaged. She is not remorseful one bit. They laughed about the publics reaction the day after and one of those silly women commented that it was all over and done with now and people should 'get over it'.
From what I have seen and heard, thats not real likely at the moment….
