Benjamin Quentin Marshall appreciation thread

Too many dribblers on this forum bagging Benji saying he's not worth the money, taking the club for a ride :blah . This man is a great asset to the club both on and off the field. Lets face it, how marketable would we be without him? Not very. He's been behind one of the smallest forward packs for some years, and still has been able to produce some great work throughout the years, despite what you may say. I for one hope this man stays a one club man, it's hard to find one of them these days, sign this man please Mr Mayer. :sign:

While I agree Benji should be respected, we're you in favor of keeping Sheens because he delivered us a premiership.

But he is signed until the end of 2015 ? They are offering him more money for 2014 and 2015, surely they can review a contract extension next year ? I personally don't see what all the fuss is about.

He might be contracted but he can still leave T the end of this year, he is worth his weight in gold

I hope he signs with us again and plays quality footy for a number of years for us. He has been a great player and a great representative of the club for a long time and still continues to act as a man of great character. His performances this year and last year have been down however he has still been a key player for us over the past couple of weeks when we have had some good wins.

I hope the morons that attack his character don't get let out of the asylum too often and ideally have their Internet access revoked. It is weak and shows poor form.

To be fair this is what I am finding annoying.

x 2.
Benji critics come out in their droves when we lose. It seems all our losses are blamed entirely on him.
If that's the case then every win is also only thanks to him. However, when we do win there is barely a hint of acknowledgement of that. To say that Benji is the major victim of scapegoating on here is an understatement.
Poor form indeed.

Love him! Think very highly of him! The other week I was watching the footy with mum who supports sharks it was the broncos game and I said something along the lines of 'that's why we don't want him'(a lot more swearing) and mum turned around and said you can't say that about the player that IS the tigers!

He has turned it around on recent form and every game he plays and everytime he touches the ball I get on the edge of my seat and think come in benji!

Bring in Brooks and then we will see the benji we all want.

Benji becomes this forums scapegoat when other players left. Blair is apparently the other one always at fault when we lose. This forum is filled with more critics then supporters.

Benji has been such a magnificent asset to this club. The bloke has had some inconsistent form of late and has copped it from pillar to post. However he isn't the only one.

Benji will play out the second half of the season in much stronger form then the first and we'll see how the forum goes then.

Benji is fantastic, i hope he stays improves his form and gets a solid half back like brooks next to him.

Benji was the test case for Sheens trying to make a halfback.

If he had stayed at 6 under a decent halfback everyone would be screaming at the club for him to resign.

Average 7
Fantastic 6

(traditional roles)

Benji has provided a lot of happy moments for me and I am sure most Wests Tigers supporters. I hope you do the right thing Benj..

Ahhh… now I get it, we owe him an extension in debt of form a decade ago?

How about he takes his raise, produces some sort of form over the next 2 years to warrant the extension he is asking for. You can talk about his advertising potential, but when his form disappeared, so did his 3rd party media sponsors. Luckily for us, he is also using his media savy not only to work us over during his contract negotiations, but drag us through the mud while doing so.

People need to be a football fan first, buy into the soap opera a distant last... Benji needs to learn that as well.

I appreciate Marshall likes to include others into his game - ala - touch judges, but they already have an important role Benji and you shouldnt be passing the ball to them

Classic post 2011 Benji tonight.

Champagne football

You want to talk marketability? Teams that win football games are marketable, guys who do their job 24 games a season are marketable. Flash in the pan all or nothing plays that cost your team vital chances in every single game you play doesn't

It's obvious the on going contract negotiations are effecting him but tonight when we had momentum and the game in our hands he killed by not finding touch this is unacceptable.

A team performing markets ten times better than one single player. Souths are booming at the moment, and do they have a single marketable player like Benji?

As much of an asset Benji has been, he is no longer that asset. He has become a liability.
