Benji 2025 and Beyond

I get what you’re saying, but I disagree. Talents like Moylan, RCG, DWZ and Yeo over that initial period with a recent debutants in 2016 in Nathan Cleary, Edwards, JFH and Leota they were primed.
Well said.

I just think what Penrith achieved is kinda remarkable. Not even the storm have done 4 straight and your going back to pre-cap times.

Yes, they had some champions... But the riff's success is more a strong team with the right people in key parts. Removing Romey and they fell apart. Also while Mr Cleary did good here, we still did not make the 8 and arguably had some bad picks.

Meh can happily agree to disagree. Glad the riff got 4 in a row over Roosters or Storm.

Top 4 is a bit crazy. What else is crazy is how long it’s been since we made the 8, and it seems to be accepted that this is just another year on the pile.
Yea...

I mean I am accepting that we will just miss the spoon.
Our attitude is better, our training is still soft!

Benji would be the fluke coach that could take a well trained side to the finals.
Benji is not the training/rebuild coach we need. We thought it was madge, it wasn't.

Brad Arthur IMHO is the only hard nosed coach I think that could build the WT up. We can't keep backing the 2005 squad and being inbred.

Benji needs more wins this year and start next season stronger than this season , if he can get another 2 or 3 wins this season I’m ok but he would def need to keep getting wins early next season , the club can keep rolling along like this and coming up with rubbish rebuilds , it will take 3 years etc , we heard this 5 times already , it’s 2025 we win in 2005 , that’s 20 years with only a couple years being ok out of the 20 , so no more bullshit rebuild excuses , if say Brad Arthur had this team now from today plus the chance to buy a couple more players we go too 8 next season I feel , he is way more experienced coach than Benji , I’m not slagging Benji off either , love the guy and what he did for this club but I just see him trying but is just not up to nrl coaching and also protecting himself by bringing in his group off assistants who none would get a coaching gig over Brad Arthur’s at any other club , Richo has to protect the club now and set the frame in stone with the coach , 2025 need 2 more wins , season 2026 you must be 7 wins from first 10 rounds , no excuses

What games that we have lost, do you think we win, with another coach, if we had the same roster?
Rd 1 v Newcastle
Rd 4 v Warriors
Rd 11 v Souths
Rd 14 v Penrith
Rd 16 v Canberra
All close losses and all games where we were arguably better than the opposition, yet didn’t have the game IQ nor the polish to close out the wins. Better coaching converts more than half of those.
I would also suggest that even though we won:
Rd 9 v Dragons
Rd 18 v Roosters
Rd 20 v Titans
They were poorly played wins that a better coached side would have easily secured given the opposition and the way the games went. If we won even 3 of that first set and then won really well in the 3 from the second set, we’d be talking about finals right now.

We likely make finals if not for Cleary's statement that derailed the rest of that season.

The reaction on here was weird at the time, with some 99% satisfied that he was staying based on that statement, when it was clear as a sunny day to me that he was gone as his words did not in any way allude to him staying.

Spot on , agree with all this , we don’t know how to attack close to the
Line , many games we should have won and you have nailed them

Benji has been improving. He is trying things and uses matchups. Limited by the squad but he can attract players, motivate the team, handle media and tactically smart. He will get there squad needs to improve over time kids and recruits key.

Sorry you lost me?

You mean "on the bus" or something else? I honestly think that just confused the crap out of Curtis Rona.

Actually that's not a bad recruitment idea. Next Penrith, Storm, Roosters or other team game.. Just drive our bus up and see if any confused players get on and sign them!
Hey we want them for their playing ability, not their public transport navigation.
