Broken leg and brutal snub led star to Souths

LOOK away Wests Tigers fans, this one’s going to hurt.

Lachlan Ilias grew up in the heart of Wests Tigers territory , idolising his hero Benji Marshall .

Now, after a broken leg and a brutal snub from the Tigers , the star in the making will make his debut in the halves alongside Marshall for South Sydney.

“It was difficult for him – there was a lot of talk at the (Tigers) about big, big plans for him,” Lachlan’s father Arthur said. “It didn’t quite work out that way. The pathway system we could see at the Rabbitohs, I could see longevity and a clear pathway to the NRL.”

Ilias has been working closely with his manager Braith Anasta.

What rubbish... He is playing as Souths have rested 50 players this week..
Clubs lose player every day in the juniors ranks. Clowns

Didn’t he leave at the end of 2018?
And what “snub” are we talking about? The article doesn’t really say. It more comes across that his old man is salty the WT didn’t share his view that his kid is a world beater.

Or 'News Limited'.

I mean, what a hard hitting, **brutal** article of substance.

Father is talking about a clear pathway to the NRL, yet he’s only getting an opportunity cos Souths decided to rest half their team. Good call dad.

Good stuff.. your kid is about to make his NRL debut and the headline is about how his Junior club let him go. You're using your kid's debut to crap on the club that developed him to an extent.

Bad karma, bro.

Yes in 2018 ..Dad knew Souff's were going to punt Reynolds in 2022..

Pretty clear to me..

bit disappointing that we turned our back on a kid due to a broken leg and didn't give him a chance to rehab it and see how he ended up. heard nothing but good things about Ilias, this one might come back to haunt us.

Souths talk up their juniors more then anyone. Taafe, Ilias and Mamouzelos are basically being called the next Slater, Cronk and Smith, yet they were 3/4 of the spine who came last in nsw cup lol

Souths' media brown paper bags are working overtime this week.

There is another article about one of their other juniors and how the Roosters let them go: https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/09/02/$300-punt-that-brought-one-time-rooster-back-into-rabbitohs-fold/

Notice how he didn't fit in with the Roosters but there is a lot less shade thrown on them.

Is he any good Yoss, I don't really recall seeing him play

I don’t see how their pathways are any different to other Sydney clubs, including us.
