Benji - Goal Kicking Record?

He has kicked his last 15 straight… I think the NRL record is 35 in a row. Can he do it?

I personally think he may go close but probably won't but nevertheless he has improved this part of his game immensely. Does anybody know if he got a new goal kicking coach this year? Anyway he truly is now the WHOLE package! Kudos Benji!

How good is his kicking this year he is so much better and now u can sit back because he will get them in and will only get better. I think his one of the best this year to fire up benji and the tigers.

Hope you haven't put the kiss of death on him Luke  If I was to start this thread he would miss his next 6 straight

He is kicking with so much confidence at the moment

Keep up the good work Benji

 now you've got that stuck in my head - I'm going to be nervous when Benji is lining up his first kick this week! Here's hoping the next 21 goals for Benji are infront of the posts!

I wouldn't even be thinking of this record until he got to within 10 kicks. If the record is 35, it shows that it is very hard to not miss. Get a game played on a wet and windy night and a few tries scored in the corner, it would take a miracle to keep the run going. Even El Masri's best season was only 86%, so missing 1 in 7 kicks.

His kicking may be better marginally.

But I think the high percentage has a lot to do where the tries are being scored, when we had Taniela,Lawrence or Lote in form the majority of tries were being scored on the edges. With Taniela gone and the other 2 not playing at there best we are scoring our tries in different area ie closer to the post.

His rate went up as soon as he sacked Taylor. Took up with the mariners soccer kicker I think and his steps are 3-4 steps at most. It pretty much happened instantly.

Benji is currently striking them at 83%, second in the comp at the moment.

surprisingly its adam reynolds from souths but either way benji's kicking is winning us games this year eg warriors unlike in the past few years where it would of cost us a game or two

He strikes them well.

his record is great this season, but im not sure i completely agree it is where they are scoring. i always thought he struck the ball well and had very few real shockers at conversion, but always (from the sideline) seemed to get the line wrong.
i think over the last 2 seasons it has dramatically improved, and that the tigers are back to where they were when hodgson was kicking; ie; completely agree the huge difference it makes in a game to get those 6 instead of 4….

Just saw Beau on the footy show doing 'kick for cash'. He struck it well but fell just short. Could always be our 2nd choice if Benji hits a slump. lol
All jokes aside Benji has got the ball on a string at the moment. This year he really is becoming a more complete player!

I just noticed that Benji has now kicked the most goals for the Wests Tigers, going past Hodgson.

Marshall: 318 from 446 attempts (71.3%)
Hodgson: 317 from 410 attempts (77.3%)
Caine: 211 from 295 attempts (71.5%)

Congrats, Benji. Hope you keep up your good kicking from this season!

Marshall would need to kick his next 4 attempts to have a better % than Caine, and his next 119 (!!!) to have a better % than Hodgson.

Exactly. I remember screaming every time he missed one that cost us a game "Can't we get a real kicker!" How far the champ has come.

great stats - thanks. i think marshalls % reflects how poor it was when he started kicking (consistently in the 60s from memory?) and how good it is now. i think he is something like 83% this season, so it is definitely higher and a huge benefit for the tiges - especially given the close scores this year. 😱pen_mouth:

Benji has been kicking like a champ! Its hard to remember when every second article was about his goal kicking and bringing some new mentor/coach for him. With the many games we have won on 1 or 2 points, even though marshall has been a bit quiet in the attack than other years he has won games on his kicking.
